Another Outrageous Cash Seizure Case

Here’s another blatantly unconstitutional asset forfeiture case, this time from Indiana. The police pull over two guys in a Jeep for speeding. And then: In the Jeep’s back seat, police found more than $26,000 in cash wrapped in a stocking cap. Though officers held the two men for a short time in squad cars, they…

Remember the case of Charlie Lynch, who ran a medical marijuana dispensary and was recently convicted in a federal prosecution for it? The judge in the case has done something very interesting. He’s postponed sentencing Lynch and asked for comment from the Obama Department of Justice.

I had no idea the Ten Commandments case involving McCreary County, Kentucky was still going, but apparently it is. A federal judge just ordered McCreary and Pulaski counties to pay the legal fees for the plaintiffs, represented by the ACLU, after they won a case that went all the way to the Supreme Court in…

Radio Show Preview 03-26-09

On tonight’s Declaring Independence, we’ll have part 2 of last week’s interview with Mary Kane (done live, not recorded) about the government’s various bailout programs. Then we’ll have none other than PZ Myers on the show for the second interview. PZ wrote on his blog a couple days ago: Ed and I are planning to…

Ken Ham’s Hypocritical Whining

Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis is upset that one of their people went on a radio show in England and was “ambushed” because they had Genie Scott on the show to counter his claims: That’s why it was not too surprising that when Dr. Lisle went on the air to be interviewed by the…

Don McLeroy, chairman of the Texas Board of Education, has an op-ed in the Austin American Statesman demonstrating perfectly both his ignorance of evolution and why all this talk of “strengths and weaknesses” is nothing more than a ruse to bring creationist arguments into science classrooms. First he shows his ignorance of the philosophy of…

Gary Bauer’s Christian Values

Politico has an absolutely staggering opinion piece by Gary Bauer, one of the most prominent leaders of the Christian right, in which he actually argues that allowing the detainees at Guantanamo Bay to practice their faith is turning them into terrorists. After a January Pentagon report found that 61 former detainees had engaged in terrorist…

Chris Rodda on Video

My friend Chris Rodda has made a series of Youtube videos debunking many of the claims made by David Barton. There are 9 of them altogether and you can view them all below the fold.

I Get Email

I’ve long wondered why I didn’t get nearly as much crazy email as PZ does. It’s downright unfair for all the nuts to focus on him and not on me and, quite frankly, I’ve come to resent it. Thankfully, the pace of crazy emails seems to have picked up a bit in recent weeks. The…

Since Joe the Plumber declared to a conservative group that he was horny, Jesus’ General has responded with a letter to Brent Bozell, the founder of the group he was speaking to: Dear Mr. Bozell, At first, I didn’t know what to think when Joe the Plumber strode up to the podium at your awards…
