Chris Buttars, You've Got Company

Posted on: April 30, 2009 9:23 AM, by Ed Brayton

After reading this article, it turns out that Chris Buttars may not be the loopiest Utah Republican after all. Don Larsen may have him beat.

Utah County Republicans defeated a resolution opposing well-heeled groups that a delegate claims are pushing a satanic plan to encourage illegitimate births and illegal immigration.

Don Larsen, a Springville delegate, offered the resolution, titled "Resolution opposing the Hate America anti-Christian Open Borders cabal," warning delegates that an "invisible government" comprised of left-wing foundations was pumping money into the Democratic Party to push for looser immigration laws and anti-family legislation.

It gets better:

Larsen said Democrats get most of the votes cast by illegal immigrants and people in dysfunctional families.

But it's not the Democrats who are behind this strategy, Larsen said. It's the devil.

"Satan's ultimate goal is to destroy the family," Larsen said, "and these people are playing a leading part in it."

Larsen's resolution contained quotes from the New Testament on the battle between good and evil. The copy of the resolution handed to delegates stated it "fulfills scriptural prophecies about our times."

Sounds like his tinfoil hat is a little snug.

Hate America anti-Christian Open Borders cabal

You know it's not a real organization when you can't make even a marginally cleaver acronym out of it. HAACOBC doesn't quite roll of the tongue, you know?

HACOB?
HAAOBC?
AACBC?
Ughh...that's a horrible group of consonants. Not much you can do with them.

Miss California to campaign against gay marriage

Dang it! I missed last month's meeting of the HAACOB cabal. I'm always out of the loop. Why didn't anyone tell me???

Here's the itinerary from the meeting, just so you can get caught up on what you missed:

9 am -- Abort Christian puppies
10 am -- Gay sex with illegal immigrants
11 am -- Study evolution
12 pm -- Snack
1 pm -- Plot one world government and coming of Anti-Christ

Votes... cast... by illegal immigrants?

I can see how confusing that must be if you don't speak wingnut. In Wingnuttia, an "illegal immigrant" means any hispanic resident of the United States.

Amazing! The far-left anti-Christian cabals and the far-right True Christian™ fundamentalists have the same goal! Remember, they WANT the world to end. They're really looking forward to being raptured.

If dead people can vote, why not?

Remember, it's an article of faith with these clowns that ACORN is secretly registering millions of 'illegals' to vote and nobody but them notices.

Illegal immigrants get votes? They aren't even available to legal immigrants unless they take citizenship

It's so incredibly depressing that there are adults, with a fair degree of formal education, who still believe in Satan and demons (and God and angels, for that matter). That such people are actually in positions of influence and authority is even more depressing.

Posted by: MS | April 30, 2009 9:36 PM

There's little doubt that some non-citizen immigrants illegally vote. There's also little doubt that they tend to favor Democrats.

However there's great doubt that the number of such votes is very significant.

It's possible that some illegal immigrants illegally vote. It's implausible that a "snuck across the border so I can work 12 hours a day and send money back to my family" illegal immigrant would, but not so implausible that a "overstayed my visa because I had a good job and am well settled in and a member of my community" illegal immigrant might.

But again, the number of such votes is probably insignificant. And if a person's been paying their taxes in the U.S. for a number of years, I say let them vote.

How are open borders anti-family? Closed borders stick some members of a family on the wrong side of a border and break the family up.

Khan:

Thanks, I just wish that Ed's "Dispatches from the culture wars" included some real cultural news, like stuff about beauty paegants and boob jobs! It appears that Carrie may be ready to become the new Anita Bryant. Pretty, willfull & intolerant is no way to go through life, young lady!

And of course, there's Orson Scott Card on teh GAY.

Okay, one more to add to the mix (well, seven, actually). It appears that Harry Reid and five other Mormon elders made the rounds of the hotair and yellow journalistic outlets to pimp for Bybee. Jesus' General has the story.

I used to like Card. After he went all batshit-insane-foaming-at-the-mouth after 9/11, that went downhill. Then he started in with the bigotry, and it was over. I can still read Ender's Game, but that's about it.

I find that the Republicans that are MOST vocal about illegal immigrants from Mexico, are nowhere near the border!

They constantly talk about stopping the illegals from crossing the border, but when it comes to FUNDING the people who are doing the actual leg work, they refuse.

Here in Arizona us residents are having to foot the bill for everything related to illegal immigrants including hospital and medical costs.
God forbid they should help us Arizonans secure the border, but we are the first they blame when illegals get through!

I hope someone got a screenshot 'cause the page is no longer available, the article doesn't turn up in the newspaper's archive, and Google cache just shows the "not available" page.
