Okay, not dead – but no longer the chairman. The Texas state senate rejected the reappointment of Don McLeroy as chairman of the Texas Board of Education on Thursday, failing to get the 2/3 necessary to ratify his reappointment by Gov. Rick Perry. He’s still a duly elected member of the board, of course, but he’s no longer chairman. I know it doesn’t change anything. The nuts still hold a near-majority on the board and Perry could easily name another lunatic on the board, like Terri Leo, as chair. But it’s still a momentary victory that put a smile on my face.
