Or perhaps more appropriately, ironic quote of the day. From Worldnutdaily managing editor David Kupelian:
At WND, we don't mock patriotic Americans trying to set their country right. We don't rewrite White House press releases and call it news. We don't bow and scrape before President Obama or anyone else. We don't pretend abortion is OK, or that same-sex marriage is good, or that global warming is "proven science," or that more government is the solution to all problems, or that Palestinian leaders wants peace, or that the Constitution is old-fashioned, or that the "Federal Reserve" is good for America. In short, we're not politically correct and we have no sacred cows. Instead, we really do strive to tell the truth that Americans desperately need and deserve to hear.
Tres amusing.

No sacred cows? Oh, right, all those critical pieces aimed at creationism and religions. I forgot about those.

I hate to say it but he does score *one* point. A lot of the news media, especially here in California, *do* just regurgitate whatever a politician says. They ask bland queries and just cut/paste the response. I haven't heard a follow up question or seen any healthy skepticism from a reporter in years. They've taken the concept of neutrality into complete passivity. No, a reporter is *supposed* to start asking more pointed questions when something a politician says fails a grade school level logic test. Otherwise, what use are the reporters?
This explains in part, I believe, the popularity of people like Stewart and Olberman. They may be snarky and going for entertainment, but they question the hell out of what politicians do. That's what *real* reporters are supposed to do- play watchdog.

Funny - they seem to have a cow of any other type on a regular basis.

Bog @ #6:
And so does WingNutDaily...as long as the politician is a republican.
The question is, do they have the audacity to tell such an obvious lie and expect not to get called on it? Or are they so totally batshit fucking insane they actually beleive what they're saying? Or do they just know their target audience is that stupid and gullible?

To put it simly, they wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bit them on the ass
Posted by: Ex Partiate | July 1, 2009 11:37 AM
So basically, they don't pretend that reality is, you know, real.

Squiddhartha, you took the sputtering right out of my mouth.

"At WND, we don't mock patriotic Americans trying to set their country right."
Guys, what you don't get is, it is impossible for liberals to be patriotic Americans, that term is the registered trademark of the religious reich. By definition any non-conservative is an unpatriotic American trying to destroy our country and any conservative is a patriotic American trying to set their country right ... get it? RIGHT?
See you have made the common beginner mistake. You thought this was written in English when it was, in fact, written in conservatese. It is an easy mistake to make, the two languages look very similar, but some words have totally different meanings.
Patriot = conservative
Is just one of the numerous differences in the languages.

WND's Kupelian stated:
Actually, I counted 10 sacred cows in just the short blurb Ed quotes here. You gotta love the projectionism.

I think my favourite part is "We don't pretend the Constitution is old-fashioned". That's it, refute that argument that nobody was actually making! Boy, I wouldn't like to be in nobody's shoes right now!

They can't have any sacred cows since they're pure bullshit.

I just read this quote to my wife, who hasn't heard of the WND before. I read the quote and said "Now imagine Fox News, but about twice as bad, trying to say that with a straight face."
Or,[with badly faked Scottish brogue] "Captain, the irony meter. She can't take much more!"

He seems to be suggesting that liberals are only pretending to uphold such values, and that deep down we don't really believe such things either. Fascinating.

No sacred cows? You mean like opposition to same-sex marriage, abortion, evolution, and explanations of global warming? Did you mean no sacred cows other than those?

Or my favorite: Liberty = Christianity

we have no sacred cows
But they have certainly milked the whole Obama's birth certificate controversy, to an udderly ridiculous level. Their site is also chock-full of bull, and extremely cheesy (especially the columns from Chuck Norris and Pat Boone). Of course, wingnuts the world over stampede there every day, without even being prodded. Personally, I think it's time Joseph Farah moooooooooooooved on to something for which he's more qualified, like being the janitor in a burger joint.

Obama still has not showed his birth cirtificate. I'll give anyone $100,000 if they can get their hands on the original copy in the courthouse - if it exists at all. There are no rules for engagement, just get it to me. His mother was a radical leftist hippy and his father was a devout Muslim. Now, that's a dangerous combination indeed! Both violent, loudmouthed, and uncivilized at best - and neither know what the hell they are talking about.

Hey "Real American". You birfer idiots were cute for awhile. Now you've just gotten boring.
Posted by: Taz | July 2, 2009 10:03 PM
So no one really have good values, they just pretend to.
Well, good for you, WND, for not pretending to be intelligent and progressive. At least you're honest about your idiotic and backwards ideals and opinions. Doesn't change the fact that they are idiotic and backwards.
