"Dumbass" Quote of the Day

Posted on: July 20, 2009 9:32 AM, by Ed Brayton

Which is to say, a quote about a dumbass. From Meghan McCain:

Shortly before McCain sat for this interview, Samuel Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, gave an interview to Christianity Today in which he complained about "queers" and declared, "I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children." Unprompted, McCain rails against the man her father's presidential campaign touted as an American everyman and made a showpiece in the weeks before the election. "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass. He should stick to plumbing."

Of course, the rest of us knew he was a dumbass even before he dropped that little nugget of ignorant bigotry.

Well... one can only hope that "Joe" has children who turn out to be tolerant and open-minded people, intolerant only of their father's inane and annoying rants on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If the leaders of the Republican Party had any brains, they'd make Meghan McCain the face of the New and Improved Republican Party. She'd attract conservative Democrats and independents in droves.

Yes, I realize the premise of my comment is...flawed.

Uh, yeah Dan...on Politically Incorrect she came off not only as a simpering idiot, but also as someone not interested enough in the (not even moderately tough) questions she was asked to try and give a coherent answer. If she gets any deeper into politics, she'll most likely be another "on message"/"talking points" only quote-robot.

Of course, she's only what...20? Maybe she'll grow out of that.

It's a proven fact: ALL gay people are pedophiles, and NO straight people ever could be one. Seriously, if I had kids, I'd rather have them around a group of the most flamboyant gays, lesbians, transvestites and transsexuals than around one Catholic priest.

Is this only because English is not my first language, or was this sentence really hard to parse? (Especially with the omission of Meghan's first name).

Meghan McCain, while having some reasonable stances on some topics, is not very intelligent herself. I stopped paying attention to her after she railed against Letterman after he made the Palin joke.

Yes, the younger McCain isn't especially bright, but in the party of Palin, Jindal, and the C Street Mafia, she seems like a rocket scientist.

It's like I've been saying ever since that "You libs think Obama is your savior" meme took off: after eight years of Bush, anyone more competent and intelligent than your average high school guidance counselor seems like the fucking Messiah.

No, it's not just you, Jerome. I had to read it a couple of times too.

Meghan McCain has been running around trying to convince people that the Republican party is a better place for gays than the Democratic party. As evidence, she cites Obama's disappointing record so far with gay rights. I can appreciate her trying to be loyal to her father and her principles, but no, Meghan, the Republicans are not going to be getting gay support any time soon.

"Meghan McCain has been running around trying to convince people that the Republican party is a better place for gays than the Democratic party."

SRSLY? It's clear that the dems only give lip service to gay rights, but conservatives......well.....I don't want to Godwin the thread.

Besides, hating gays is about the only thing the right has to rally 'round anymore.

I thought it was young gay men who were being paid for lip service to members of the Republican Party. Silly Dingo! - DJ

DJ, Can you hum a few bars???

Hey, Ms. McCain can't be all bad. She was bad-mouthed by that fucking whore, Laura Ingraham, who made a catty comment about her weight.

Little McCain only seems sane when next to the rest of the GOP line up. Next to anybody else she just looks stupid. If she was ever "tapped" for any sort of position of power, the time before she too wanted to burn hte gays could probably be measured in seconds.

I wonder how many more votes McCain would have gotten if he had said that during the campaign.

I'd rather have my children around gay people than bigots and liars. People like "Joe" have the biggest closets and the darkest secrets.
