Orly Taitz. Nelson Mandela. Who Can Tell the Difference?

Posted on: September 18, 2009 9:16 AM, by Ed Brayton

Wow. You really have to be in awe of the delusions under which birther queen Orly Taitz lives. The judge who threw out her latest frivolous suit? She wants him tried for treason:

In an interview with TPM just now, Birther evangelist Orly Taitz fired back at Clay Land, the U.S. district court judge who tore apart Birtherism and threatened Taitz with sanctions in an order today, saying that "somebody should consider trying [the judge] for treason and aiding and abetting this massive fraud known as Barack Hussein Obama."

"This is so outrageous what this judge did -- it goes in the face of law and order," said Taitz, reached at her office in Mission Viego, CA. "Not every judge is as corrupt as Judge Land. Some judges believe in the Constitution. And some judges believe in the rule of law."

Oh, wait. It gets better:

I asked Taitz what she will do next with the Rhodes case, which was filed and tossed out in another district before it was refiled with Land. "This is the decision of Connie," she said. "I will be talking to her and making a decision."

And if Rhodes is open to continuing the fight, would Taitz go along?

"Oh absolutely, absolutely," she said. "Listen, Nelson Mandela stayed in prison for years in order to get to the truth and justice."

And Taitz brushed off the possibility of sanctions. "I'm not afraid of sanctions. Because I know this is not frivolous. I know this is extremely important -- the most important issue in this country today."

"Judge Land is a typical puppet of the regime -- just like in the Soviet Union," she said.

Imagine how delusional you have to be if, in your world, Barack Obama is the second coming of Adolf Hitler and Orly Taitz is the equivalent of Nelson Mandela. Seriously, it's men in white coats time.

Where is that vindictive fucker, Judge Smails, when his country needs him? He'd toss Orly down the nut hatch and dog it tight before going out for his round of golf with Rodney Dangerfield.

Orly Taitz has a bad wig AND an amazingly fucked up squash beneath it.

To restate: "It is so commendable what this judge did -- it upholds law and order," said mercurianferret, reached at its office at 123 Broad St, Anytown USA. "Not every judge is as keen as Judge Land. Many judges believe in the Constitution. And many judges believe in the rule of law. ... Judge Land is a judge in the United States -- just like he was since he became a judge."

But it's better than even that, allow me to pile-on:

Imagine how delusional you have to be if, in your world, Barack Obama is the second coming of Adolf Hitler, Orly Taitz is the equivalent of Nelson Mandela, and the forces who oppose her are the equivalent in evil and power as the old USSR's KGB. Seriously, it's men in white coats time.

As I posted on an earlier thread from yesterday, an attorney who is a member of the California Bar, although he no longer prractices law in california, has filed a complaint against whackjob Taitz.

Someone should send Chandra a gift basket or a certificate for a free round of golf or something. The guy's complaint could, if it finally gets this nutcase to drop her moronic lawsuits, save hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions in court costs and wasted time for our legal system. This nutcase is such a complete moron it defies imagination how she could be a dentist let alone an attorney. I mean really, sure, her law degree was effectively obtained by collecting cereal boxtops and mailing them in, and I recognize that it is hard to cut out the boxtops with those little rounded elementary school scissors, but still, this wack-a-loon is an embarrassment to humanity.

I was almost right! I predicted she would call Judge Land a brownshirt and part of the grand Obama conspiracy. I didn't count on a treason charge. Thank you, Orly, for being (almost) so f**king predictable!

Re dogmeatib

And yet, somehow this whackjob managed to pass the Bar Examination in California which is considered, along with that of Massachusetts, one of the toughest in the Nation.

Sorry to sound pedantic, but is anyone inquiring into the possible relationship between Taitz and either AIPAC or the current government of Israel? It's pretty obvious that our new President is nowhere near as compliant toward Netenyahoo's expansionist policies as Bush Jr. was; so it's at least plausible to suppose that they might be inclined to support, or at least encourage, any attempts to weaken and punish any American leaders who don't give them the obedient support they've grown used to in the last eight years.

Scott,
I just went through the swamp article SLC linked to. Those comments are a hoot. Our old friend Capt Steve, early up with a list of 'missing' documents, used to post here as a concern troll I believe. He is a true birther if the list of documents he demands Obama deliver says anything. What a loon.

Re Raging Bee

Allegations have been made on several anti-Israel web sites that Netanyahu & Co. and/or AIPAC are behind Ms. Taitz. However, they presented no evidence, other then Ms. Taitz being a dual US/Israeli citizen and having apparently gotten her dentist education in Israel. Given that Ms. Taitz is obviously a loose cannon with considerably fewer then 52 cards in her deck, I doubt that these folks would use her as a stalking horse.

This is one of the main problems that arises from California's failure to require bar examination applicants to graduate from accredited law schools. California is populated by scores of these "strip mall law schools".

Taitz went to William Howard Taft "University's" online law school. I think it is safe to speculate that Taft doesn't have the most rigorous admissions requirements. Furthermore, there is a certain amount of acculturation that occurs from three years of law study with your peers. People with more fringe ideas tend to be smoothed out a bit when interacting with professors and fellow students in classroom debates.

Its insane that Taitz couldn't qualify to be member of the bar in my backwoods state of New Mexico, but she can bring on the crazy and clog up the federal docket in California. California really does its legal bar and those it serves a huge disservice by allowing legions of poorly educated pseudo-attorneys to practice.

@SLC

I've passed the Cal bar exam. I've also passed two other bar exams (NM and Patent). The Cal bar was only slightly harder. But easily passable if one is willing to dedicate the necessary time.

It's true that it has a low pass rate. However, this is explained by all the low-hanging-fruit applicants coming out of California's innumerable low quality law schools.

I'd love to get Barack Obama on camera and just say, "Mr. President, Orly Taitz: GO." I'd love to hear his commentary.

Well, that's more proof than Taitz herself has ever furnished to back up any of her allegations.

Given that Ms. Taitz is obviously a loose cannon with considerably fewer then 52 cards in her deck, I doubt that these folks would use her as a stalking horse.

Unless, of course, all their more competent agents are busy dealing with Hezbollah, Hamas, and Fatah. Besides, Israel has plenty of loose-cannon supporters in the US already, so maybe they didn't think this latest addition would be a huge step downward. Just sayin'...

I think it's an insult to consider Orly Taitz as a mate for Joe the Plumber.

I instead favor that he impregnates both Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin (live on a reality TV show) and those two gals duke it out on PayTV on which one is carrying the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. Referreed by Kanye West, hosted by Orly Taitz and brought to you by Rick Warren and John Haggee's respective ministries. Color Analyst - Mike Huckabee.

Later it's discovered that Levi is really the father of Ms. Palin's proto-JC, (who tapped Sarah as a warm-up off-camera).

We are all adults here, and as adults we know there are consequences for are actions, so if you do not agree with his policies, you can a) do nothing, b) support him, c) not support him, d) protest and picket, its your choice, live the dream! As for Orly Taitz, to this point she has not been successful because she does not have any proof, documentation supporting her claims except her wild rants. You are backing the wrong horse on this one. Get someone with real credentials (Harvard, Yale Law School) not a Russian immigrant with dual US/ Israel citizenship (where are her allegiances?). Have you even thought of who is paying for all her travel, or are you telling me she independently wealthy? Sorry she has no juice because she does not have any proof, documentation supporting her claims except her wild rants. That might work in “Fake News” but not in a Court of the United States. I only wrote what I believe, sorry if that not what you believe.

Re my post @ 22: Not-Joe's agent just called me. Not-Joe's steaming; he's bagging much younger stuff since McCain anointed him and quite frankly, he's offended anyone would even attempt to stud him out to plus-40-somethings like Bachmann and Palin. Instead he's proposing he do Ms. Conservative Universe Carrie Prejean, where we bet on the outcome of their progeny - JCII or the Anti-Christ? Besides, Joe's not looking for intelligent conversation afterwards like those policy wonks Palin and Bachmann. Nah, Carrie's his gal.

10,000 internets to Michael Heath. Bonus points for bringing up Carrie Prejean's hilariously dumb speech at the Values Voter Summit (of course, there are no other kinds of speeches given at the Values Voter Summit).

Sean: My current employer's Intertubes server blocks access to social-networking sites like my blog, so I can't show you a link to my article about the full scale of the insanity at the 2005 Values Voter Summit. So I'll just give you their winning chant for that year: "Cut up the concubine!" That pretty much sums up their mentality -- that, and the bit about how they can't actually obey the teachings of Jesus 'cause then they'd be at the mercy of leftists.

Good God, I'm surprised that during her "speech" to the conference that Carrie Prejean didn't walk on stage dressed as Joan of Arc, and then set herself on fire after her closing remarks.

Martyr complex much?

And if so, in a way, I wouldn't blame her.

Following Prejean's firing for failing to abide by her contract with pageant organizers, enabling dolts like Slanthead Hannity all but puffed her up as the second coming of Nancy Reagan.

The GOP is so desperate for a national face that it defies belief.

Apparently, Judge Land down in Georgia is about to make good on his promise to whackjob Taitz. According to news accounts, he has given her 14 days to show cause why she should not be held in contempt of court and fined $10,000 for filing an appeal to his ruling.

*sigh*, how did I know that a story about a woman would turn into jokes about how hot/not she is to the dudes here?

Anyone who thinks I am over reacting- this is what happened to Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin (WHEN THERE WAS SO MUCH ELSE TO TALK ABOUT), sonja sotomayor (with racism added in there too), the first lady, hell, damn near every woman in the public eye. It is what happens to women IRL who try to get promoted in companies or voice their opinion in public. There is absolutely no way for a woman to look the "right" way, the way that makes her actions and words the important thing. It is what dudes get by default. The jokes about the appearances of the women discussed here are clearly meant to humiliate them, it is disgusting.

I reccomend "the beauty myth" for further reading, as various forms of gender harassment became illegal the attractiveness of women became the cheif way for people to legally discriminate; and employers won if their claim was that the women were too attractive or not attractive enough. I don't really care if the joke tellers intended something different, the result is support of sexist ideas that oppress women in day to day life.

I seriously get angry about this brand of sexism when someone as out there as Orly says enough crazy stuff for years of jokes to be written.

Posted by: nails | September 20, 2009 3:44 AM

nails - does this mean I should throw out all my Mitt Romney jokes? I was saving them in case he got the 2012 GOP nomination.

In all seriousness, while I understand your point, I think it's quite a stretch to couple the jokes about Ms. Palin to Ms. Clinton. I think we can manage some nuance and distinguish the lines for both should be distinctly different. It's clear that Ms. Prejean, Bachmann, and Palin are not attracting attention because of their accomplishments, skill sets, and arguments; some other factors are in play and its easy to observe they are all physically attractive and that's a distinguishing reason for their success.

If critical thinkers observe that someone is successful, e.g., Ms. Palin, in spite of her complete lack of character, perfect ignorance, and high degree of idiocy; then it's only natural to speculate on what other factors helped make her a successful candidate. I don't see our ripping her as out of bounds as a subject matter, especially since the Right also did the same with not-Joe the not-Plumber, who you don't defend here in spite of my ripping him equally harsh to the ladies. If she had qualities like Mr. Obama or Mr. H.W. Bush than yes, it would be bad form to ignore those qualities and reduce her to a mere sex symbol.

I'll again use Romney as an example; looking only at Mr. Romney's resume in 2007 I would have thought he was an extremely strong candidate for the GOP Presidential nomination. However in the GOP primary debates he clearly presented himself as an empty suit, an almost totally vapid persona filled only with talking points that the GOP believed helped them win in 2002 and 2004. That too begged the question, how did this guy get this far? It's only natural to assume his physical attractiveness had something to do with it (coupled to the legacy and connections of his ex-MI gov. dad) given he lacked many of the qualities one would think such a resume would abundantly provide, especially given that political scientists have established that people are predisposed to support certain candidates based on their height and looks.

Let's also remember that Karl Rove latched onto George W. Bush prior to the successful launch of his career as a politico given W.'s looks, swagger, and family legacy. Intelligence, work ethic, or executive qualities had nothing to do with it. And here's my favorite W. joke, where I forget who originated it, "W. was born on third base thinking he'd just hit a triple."

So yes, I share your disgust when people attack Ms. Clinton's physical characteristics because they having nothing to do with her station in life and they do so to avoid addressing qualities which threaten their perspective of women's limitations or because they realize those qualities will make it more difficult for them to persuade people to not support her. However, I won't apologize for caricaturing and ridiculing people who are clearly not capable of executing the duties of office or in Ms. Prejean and not-Joe's case, adding to the public debate. There is some nuance there we should be able to handle while still being able to defend people's rights to access the halls of power. Ms. Clinton won me over big-time during the 2008 primaries given what I thought was an extremely strong set of performances in the debates coupled to what I thought was a well-run campaign - she was merely Charles Barkley getting run over by a Michael Jordan-like candidate in Barack Obama.

Besides, it was Saturday cocktail hour when I was having my fun with Prejean, Bachmann, Palin, and not-Joe and I admit there was a touch too much Jim Beam in the glass relative to the water I also add. However, I don't regret my making fun of them.
