Uh, guys...polygamy IS traditional marriage. Even the Bible confirms that.

Well that'll change as soon as Conservapedia rewrites those liberal parts.

I wonder how many non-reform Mormons read WND?

Well, you know, polygamy was only accepted at that time because it was appropriate FOR that time - nowadays, of course, the "traditional" form of marriage just happens to be the one the fundies prefer. And, of course, the same Bible that condoned polygamy for the Israelites 5k years ago is identical to the current version - allowing for translations, paraphrasing, misspellings, cultural context, but still THE SAME BIBLE!!!111one!!!

I just found out that I have two polygamous collateral ancestors. One of my distant cousins, Alexander Beckstead, had three wives and thirty-two children. His brother Francis had five wives but only twenty-one kids. Of course that was before god changed his mind on the polygamy thing.

To be fair, the Bible condones polygyny, which is not a synonym for polygamy. I don't think the Bible would approve of a woman having multiple husbands, but I'm not expert so I could be wrong.

Uh, "traditional" does not mean 'existed at some time in the past'; it means 'handed down from the past to the present'. There has to be continuity. That's Oakshott's view, anyway, and you should probably read him if you want to write intelligently about the subject.
