Dumbass Quote of the Day

Posted on: November 12, 2009 9:09 AM, by Ed Brayton

This may be the single dumbest thing said about the Ft. Hood shootings, by some wingnut named Pat Dollard:

The more I hear about this Major Nidal Malik Hasan character the more I believe that amabO deliberately sent this cretin to Texas knowing what was to take place. Take a look at his videos about this subject and we can all see it. Take a look at when and where the Flags were set to half mast and you tell me what you think.

I think you're a moron.

Ed:

The real problem is that he would be considered articulate when compared to the idiots he's ranting to.

2

Obama sent Hasan? Really? Call Orly so we can get to the bottom of this.

Posted by: MikeMa | November 12, 2009 9:17 AM

3

Seriously, Ed, where do you find these nutjobs? Is there a special wingnut RSS feed I am missing out on?

I am just guessing, but I would lay odds that Hasan was assigned to Fort Hood before Obama was even elected. Of course, wingnuttery would explain this fact away by suggesting Obama knew in advance he would win (part of the overall Islamization of the US of A) and had Hasan planted there as part of his nefarious plan to establish an Islamo-Nazi-fascist-socialist-communist-atheist state.

4

Something terrible happened, and he's Obama. What other evidence do you commies need?

Posted by: Taz | November 12, 2009 9:32 AM

5

No, no, he's not blaming Obama, he's blaming Amabo. Who Amabo might be is anyones guess, a vampire maybe?

Posted by: Matty | November 12, 2009 9:49 AM

6

Really, the assignment of Hasan to Fort Hood without close monitoring is simply proof of how tolerant our country really is. If (as the wingnut claims) Hasan really did go to the same Mosque as two terrorists at the same time, and was still allowed to serve in the military, it's only proof that our country is incredibly free and does not condemn someone for having a different ideology.

But, then again, this guy did go on a shooting rampage, and all those wire-taps didn't prevent it, did they?

So which is worse; that we allow someone of a controversial religious background to serve in the military (a commendable action), or that we (as a people) have allowed warrantless wire-taps and can't even use them effectively to prevent this kind of action?

Anyone have any ideas how we could prevent this without violating any basic human rights?

What is it with you and finding loonies named Pat, Ed?

Posted by: NJ | November 12, 2009 9:51 AM

8

Amabo is the one with the goatee, right?

Posted by: jpf | November 12, 2009 9:51 AM

9

Methinks his last name should probably be spelled with a "u" instead of an "o"...

Posted by: Bill Snedden | November 12, 2009 9:53 AM

10

I think you misspelled his name, it is really Pat Dullard.

Posted by: Owen | November 12, 2009 9:53 AM

Besides the obvious motivations, read the comments at this site to get where they're ending up, again. They are aruging that because the President refuses to conclude this act was terrorism, he's a traitor, in spite of the fact that the investigation is ongoing. I think this is just another argument attempting to create an environment that compels people to commit violence against the President.

It would be interesting to see the rate such rhetoric is used relative to other periods in our history, for example against Presidents Kennedy, Clinton, or FDR. Not the nominal rate which I assume is far higher today given the Internet, but instead the number of people per capita that either hold such views or hold & perpetuate such views. I have seen equally ugly arguments from Kennedy's time, but how many were exposed to such and believed it then vs. now? Are we really that much crazier and more hateful than some of us were then?

amabO is the bizarro world Obama, the evil one. Pat's claiming that Obama is really the good guy.

Posted by: James Hanley | November 12, 2009 9:55 AM

13

"Amabo" is Latin for "I shall love". I think maybe he's trying for sarcasm along the lines of the common wingnut practice of referring to Obama as "The One"/"The Messiah"/"Glorious Leader"/etc. Google shows that some Obama supporters used "amabo Obama" during the election.

Then again, maybe he's just deranged.

Posted by: jpf | November 12, 2009 10:07 AM

14

Nevermind my last comment, he gave his reason at the end:

In case you are wondering, amabO is Obama backwards because everything he does is contrary to the United States Constitution and our way of governing.

So deranged it is then.

Posted by: jpf | November 12, 2009 10:15 AM

Now the question is whether he realizes the comment of mine that he just allowed through moderation was in jest or if it seemed to him reasonably plausible for one of his readers.

Flying the flag upside-down = a sign of distress.
Writing your president’s name backwards = a sign of insanity

jpf,

While you were there, did you notice the comment claiming 1.6 million people at the 9/12 tea party, which the NYT described as "filling the west lawn of the Capitol and spilling onto the National Mall." If you can squeeze 1,600,000 wingnuts into that space, then it's no wonder they're so dense.

Posted by: Scott Hanley | November 12, 2009 11:54 AM

Anyone know what the fuck he is even getting at with the flag thing? This is so nonsensical I can't even imagine what he is trying to say.

NJ @ 7:

What is it with you and finding loonies named Pat, Ed?

There's at least Pat Dollard, Pat Buchanan, Pat Toomey, Pat Robertson, Pat Boone and Pat what'shisname (the blogger guy) so far.

What an idiot. Everyone knows that it was ACORN that issued Hasan's orders to Ft. Hood.

All I can think of is that this wingnut thinks someone who's in on the conspiracy put the flags at half-mast ahead of time, knowing that a tragedy would occur. They either did this so they wouldn't have to worry about it after the fact (just being responsible and efficient), or they did it a sign to others because they found out about this conspiracy and decided to leave a really vague symbol rather than actually do something to stop it or even tell anyone about it.

Try reading the comments listed below Dollard's blog post.

They are pretty revealing as to the mindset (e.g. insane) of these Glenn Beck-inspired conspiracy nuts. Funny how they seem to come out of the woodwork whenever a Dem is POTUS, and when a Republican is in office it's see-no-evil, hear-no-evil.

camaintix @ 26:

What do you expect from these idiots? Literacy?

Books (excluding the Bible and those not ghost-written for right-wing boobs in 30 days) are a Marxist tool of liberals out to indoctrinate America's kids.

29

CHV, for more revealing comments look at the newer post titled "We can't kill all the Muslims". Most are to the effect of "But we can try". Here's one of the moderate ones:

Bomb their cities, town, and villages with old fashioned incendiary bombs. Kill women and children, that’s what happens in a war, destroy all of their property, defeat them by beating them into absolute submission and we’ll win this war and they will leave us alone.

In case you are wondering, amabO is Obama backwards because everything he does is contrary to the United States Constitution and our way of governing.

That doesn't even make sense within the context of his own argument. What is spelling Obama's name backwards supposed to accomplish, exactly?

dralloD taP is Pat Dollard backwards because communism is evil and Jesus loves us.

Posted by: Wes | November 12, 2009 2:19 PM

He spells Obama's name backwards because he hopes Obama will stumble on the blog and read it, thus causing him to return to the 5th dimension like Mr. Mxyzptlk.

Posted by: Taz | November 12, 2009 2:25 PM

33

jpf @ 29:

Genocide is always a crowd-pleaser, apparently, especially when it comes to incinerating women and children.

As I wrote on my own blog a few minutes ago, people like those on Dollard's blog are why I firmly believe that stupidity should be a contributing factor in the occurrence of strokes.

That is, if you're incapable of using your own brain responsibly, nature should reward you with a sudden lobotomy.

Pat Dullard's page is morbidly fascinating. The "will kill for oil" t-shirts are just fucking creepy and vile. But I got a chuckle out of the fact that there's a post about "the conservative tsunami"... with a picture of a hurricane

No. Amabo is Obama backwards, and since Obama is the anti-Christ...oh my God, Amabo is Jesus! And it looks like he's Muslim now!
