He has written for such publications as The Bard, Skeptic and Reports of the National Center for Science Education, spoken in front of many organizations and conferences, and appeared on nationally syndicated radio shows and on C-SPAN. Ed is also a Fellow with the Center for Independent Media and the host of Declaring Independence, a one hour weekly political talk show on WPRR in Grand Rapids, Michigan.(static)

I was thinking about it, but I'm probably going to end up going into Bethesda with a friend of mine for a bagel run (because you can't get good bagels in D.C.) and then watching Resolved with him.

The Dubliner is a tad pricey. What am I talking about? It's DC. It's all pricey.

But the Guinness is not the best. It has that metallic taste. All their beers do.

Go across the street to Capitol City Brewing. Their beer isn't the best either, but it's better than The Dubliner.

If anyone sees this before heading out to Dubliner, I am going to try to get there at about 10 of 12:00. I'll be wearing a blue zip-up fleece jacket and glasses, and I'm sorely in need of a haircut. I'll probably be drinking seltzer by the bar.

Nice to meet all you guys on Saturday. Although I was worried about driving back to Yorktown after a few beers (I was going to restrain myself.) But it turned out you were all a bunch of teetotalers! In an Irish Pub! Whoda thunk it! You [Yinz, Y'all] need to read this book. We Christians know how to drink.

Exactly. You may have noticed that I deliberately waited until you and Ed both ordered before following suit? That was 100% because I didn't want to give up the goose as to being a lush unless it was obvious that I was in like company.

Next time, however, count on some beer (or single malt) flowing...

Well I hope no one was taking clues from me. I rarely drink anything alcoholic other than wine with dinner, but I certainly couldn't care any less that others do. If you wanted to order a beer, order a beer! Actually, now that I think about it, I can usually be tempted by a good single malt as well.

It was great to meet all of you. Thanks very much for coming out. I wish the food had been better. Was anyone else as disappointed as I was? I ordered a corned beef sandwich in an Irish pub. If anyone can do a good corned beef sandwich, it should be an Irish pub. But it sucked. The corned beef could have come from those little foil packets at the supermarket, the ones with the really thin, chopped and pressed meat. And the fries were soft and limp and greasy. If an Irish pub can't do chips, for crying out loud, it's time to shut down.

Was anyone else as disappointed as I was?

I wasn't at all impressed with my choice, and my coke was frickin' flat. Next time let's go to my neighborhood; we'll correct the food issue. No worries, though. Other than the food, it was a good time: beautiful morning and good conversation. If I'd actually ordered a scotch it would have been pretty much perfect. Thanks for deciding to do it.

The food was indeed awful. My club sandwich was like something out of a vending machine, or one of those prepackaged 7-11 abominations.

That's really too bad. Both of those choices in my opinion, corned beef and clubs, are like on-off switches: when they're good they tend to be quite tasty, but when "not-good," they're simply terrible.

Well, Dubliner, you'll get no additional brunch business from me.

*shakes fist dramatically*
