CBN News reports:
The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., will no longer provide foster care services because of the city’s gay marriage law.
After 80 years of foster care services, Catholic Charities has transferred its entire program to the non-profit National Center for Children and Families. The program includes 43 children, 35 families and seven staff members.
A same-sex marriage law soon to take effect in the nation’s capital could require the charity to let gay couples serve as foster parents. Officials for the organization said that doing so would violate church teaching on homosexuality.
Good. This only means that more children will be placed in foster homes because this non-profit group won’t discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. If the Catholic Church would rather keep kids in orphanages and out of loving homes because of the inane scribblings in a bronze age religious text, they should be kept as far away from the business of arranging foster homes for kids as can be.
And don’t even get me started on the barbaric folly of a church that deliberately moved hundreds of pedophile priests around from parish to parish so they could perpetually find new victims — and continues to harbor those who aided and abetted those crimes — daring to take some sort of moral stance on this or, frankly, any other issue.
