Jon Stewart on McChrystal and the Media

Posted on: June 29, 2010 9:02 AM, by Ed Brayton

A great riff by Jon Stewart about the mainstream media's hand-wringing over the Rolling Stone article that ended Gen. Stanley McChrystal's time in charge of the Afghanistan campaign.

The best part is when the Fox "News" woman claims being a Fox reporter is the same as being President.

"The smart lady meat in a dufus sandwich" LOL!

I have no idea what this woman is paid, but the price for expressing total stupidity in public has to be way out of line.

I dunno, it could be that she was right prior to January 20, 2009? Perhaps she just lost track of who the president is and forgot that, after 8 years, we finally have someone competent to be in the office?

Really? I expect stupidity from FOX News drones. The overall point is much more important. A journalist does what he's supposed to do and the TV talkers attack the results. Why would any one talk to Rolling Stone? Everyone knows Rolling Stone doesn't do REAL news like us.

Not to mention the insane complaint that if you don't report what they want you to they won't let you talk to them anymore. Yeah, that instills confidence in "journalism". No wonder Network news is irrelevant.

... because being president of a superpower is sooo easy that even Gretchen can do it, blindfolded, with her hands tied behind her back. In fact, it's such an easy job that even Sarah Palin could do it, in between paid appearances in front of her fanbois.

Do these people ever feel ashamed when they see themselves on tape? If Gretchen were halfway self-aware, she should be saying to herself, "Shit! I actually said that on national TV?"

Yeah, probably not.
