Judge Walker has released the entire body of evidence used in the Prop 8 trial — all the depositions, including video recordings of some of them, exhibits and so forth. You can find it all here. Much of it is very fascinating, especially the testimony of William Tan, Executive Director of the San Francisco-based Traditional Family Coalition.
Tan begged out of the trial, claiming he was afraid of retaliation — despite having spoken at innumerable public rallies and expressed his views in public and on TV hundreds of times. He was also the one who claimed that the legalization of gay marriage would lead directly to the legalization of pedophilia because this was the next item on that infamous “gay agenda.”
Karen Ocamb looks at Tam’s testimony and why it was so laughable when presented in a court of law. Tam wrote a letter encouraging people to support Prop 8 because:
This is put forth by the SF city government, which is under the rule of homosexuals. They lose no time in pushing the gay agenda – after legalizing same sex marriage they want to legalize prostitution. What will be next? On their agenda list is: legalizing having sex with children.”
He also wrote this:
“This is our biggest battlefield – our next generation. It’s a battle of the mind. Satan is working on our youths. If we and our churches don’t do our parts, we will certainly lose our kids. They’ll one day surrender to Satan. Everything we do in building Prop 8 would be given up by the next generation.”
And in his deposition, he admits to having written it. But when asked if he believes it to be true, the attorney for the defendants instructed him not to answer that question.
