From Gary North in his 1989 book Political Polytheism: The Myth of Pluralism:
The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church’s public marks of the covenant–baptism and holy communion — must be denied citizenship, just as they were in ancient Israel.
Most Christians don’t believe that, of course. But the Reconstructionists do. Gary North is a fascinating figure among the Reconstructionists because he is honest enough to admit that the U.S. Constitution was a secular document. In fact, he argues that it was a plot to overthrow Christian rule and was the first example in the West for centuries of a government that did not begin with a covenant with God.
