From potential Republican presidential candidate Sen. Mike Pence of Indiana, speaking in Detroit:
“Our present crisis isn’t merely political or economic, it’s moral in nature,” Pence said. “It’s the realization that people in positions of authority have walked away from the timeless truths of honesty and integrity. We’ve got to get back to basics.”
Nothing more than trite, cliched, meaningless pablum. And all too easy to call for a return to morality when one doesn’t have to make an argument about what that actually means. What it means to Pence, of course, is that we have to mistreat gays and non-Christians, which strikes me as highly immoral.
