The Editors of Effect Measure are senior public health scientists and practitioners. Paul Revere was a member of the first local Board of Health in the United States (Boston, 1799). The Editors sign their posts "Revere" to recognize the public service of a professional forerunner better known for other things.

John: Could be. I found this in my photo collection. I had saved it a couple of years ago and now don't know where I got it from. It seemed the perfect metaphor.

Yes, sign is on the left side of the road and the red sand/dirt it tell tale, plus of course the KM.
I lived there for a year and asked people if they ever went 'bushwalking' as I thought that's where people took wilderness hikes. They mostly looked at me like I was crazy. It's dry and barren with lots and LOTS of flies. As the sign shows, nothing out there even for an emergency for 100miles.

Reminds me of a Chinese (engraving?) of two soldiers in a chariot racing furiously in one direction while both looking to the rear. Picked it up in gift shop in the Imperial Museum in Taipai, and now have it framed on the wall in my study.

Yep, has to be Oz. As a resident still here, I can tell you it truly is a perfect metaphor for Australia's pandemic preparedness.

I can confirm that this photo is in Australia, and is not photoshopped. It is on the highway between Port Augusta, SA, and Alice Springs, NT. If I remember correctly, it's between Glendambo and Coober Pedy, although don't quote me (it might be in the NT portion south of Alice Springs).
I lived and worked in the area until very recently, and such signs are abundant - most medical help comes by plane (Royal Flying Doctor Service), and there are regular stretches of highway set aside as emergency aeromedical evacuation landing strips.
