Effect Measure

If an al-Qaeda website had endorsed Barack Obama I think we know what the McCain campaign would do with it. It would be absolutely ridiculous, but we know they’d be trumpeting it from small town to small town in “the real America.” Now that the shoe is on the other foot, with an al-Qaeda website saying a McCain presidency would be just the ticket for them, it will be interesting to see how they spin it. It is quite obvious that McCain is not an al-Qaeda sympathizer, no matter what he might feel free to say about his opponent. Dishonorable and incompetent, perhaps. Which gets us closer to the question raised on an al-Qaeda allied website:

In a message broadcast on the password-protected al-Hesbah site, the group said they would also welcome a pre-election terror attack on the US because that would make a McCain win more likely.

In an endorsement that will not be welcomed by Mr McCain’s flagging campaign, the group said that if al-Qaeda wants to exhaust the US militarily and economically, the “impetuous” Republican presidential candidate is the better choice.

“This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier,” the message said.

“Then, al-Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush.”

“If al-Qaeda carries out a big operation against American interests,” it said, “this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it.” (The Telegraph [UK])

Unfortunately this expresses impeccable logic, also consistent with the evidence that Bush’s policies have encouraged terrorism and been an economic, political and military catastrophe for the United States. The McCain campaign was reported to be terrified of this on their reporters’ conference call today, but I doubt the Obama campaign will make much of it. Republicans will just say it’s a pro-Obama “don’t throw me in that briar patch” ploy, anyway. As Jon Soltz remarks, no one should be swayed just because a maniac says something on a private website.

Especially when you have a million other reasons to detest Dishonest John McCain.

I’m not sure, but I think this was ferreted out by ‘Anonymous’, the author of Terrorist Hunter (ISBN 0-06-052819-2). If so, the FBI keeps informed of what she’s found, so the FBI knows of al-Qaeda’s support of McCain but is keeping it from the mainstream media.

Hey, terrorist dudes, we Americans are perfectly capable of totally destroying our own economy without your help, so fuck off.

    Revere,

Your so clueless of what John McCain is feeling about this, so don’t try to say he is terrified, because he is not. He could care less what this website is saying. He cares what the American people say and what the National Inteligence Estimate says. This is also what Obama should care about and and nothing else. You obviously do not run in the right circles. You should come hang out here in DC for awhile and understand what goes on inside the beltway. Silly you.

You state “In a message broadcast on the password-protected al-Hesbah site”. I wonder how you got the password to the website to read their crap, unless you are a terrorist sympathizer. Shame on you for reading terrorist crap, don’t you know that is wrong, just wrong, and it will rot your mind. Silly you.

Now just because some idiot terrorist says somesome on a website, this is not truth, even if idiots believe it. Like my dad used to say, “two half wits don’t make a whole”.

So if you half-wits that read crap like Revere writes to rant about those he hates want to support the terrorist point of view and go visit their websites, go ahead, we know you are not playing with a full deck. Your also the ones that are stuck with the big SUV’s and the IRA”s full of stocks that are down 50% and will never come back up. We are still chuckling about you. Hey you want a variable home loan? Yuk, Yuk.

So Revere, you put down McCain and place all of your hope in Obama. Let me tell you he is pretty clueless on how to deal with terrorists also. So don’t put down McCain too much as neither of these guys are perfect or really ready for the job. They both have drawbacks. Just vote and hope for the best. Nobody is going to be happy in this country after this election no matter who wins, because neither of these two guys will be able to solve the problems we face right now. So the other side will play the balme game when things get worse or when the things the President tries don’t work. It is a lose/lose situation for whoever gets elected and that is why I don’t care who gets elected and I do not like to see all of this I hate the other guy crap. They are actually both good men just trying to get the job as President. Be dignified please. Your left testicle is showing too much.

bigdude: I think it was pretty obvious to most people that this was a wire service report about those who do know how to read those websites, and not from my reading it. The McCain campaign does not deny the veracity of the report.

Oh come on. Your taking your slam at McCain. Your offering the report up to the feeble minded as red meat. It is not something that is all over the wire services, so why would it be taken seriously by anyone, let alone how do we even know the McCain camp has heard about it. How do we know they would take it seriously if it is from a terrorist sympathizer website. This is sillyness. I read national intellgence reports daily and this is nothing I have seen or have heard about, so the intelligence community is obviously blowing this off. So give this a break unless you are actually thinking this is credible stuff. It is internet garbage and some nut ranting. If there was a terrorist threat, the alert level would go up and you would know there was chatter.

bigdude: OF COURSE I am taking a slam at McCain. That is pretty obvious. But that doesn’t make the facts untrue. The McCain campaign were so unnerved by this (because if the shoe were on the other foot they would be trumpeting to the world that Obama was endorsed by terrorists) that they called a reporters conference call, with McCain advisor James Woolsey, to spin it as a reverse psychology endorsement of Obama. Really, really stupid. Yes, it was legit. Google it.

The intelligence community is blowing it off? There is nothing to blow off. It was a private website for chatter between these nutcases that this is what was said. The logic of it is pretty good and accords with what has happened with the war in Iraq. Americans aren’t the only ones to notice it, you know.
