I'm with Jon - I REFUSE to get the swine flu shot! There are way more dangers than I first realized (unlicensed components, the market-rush, etc), which I only became aware of after I read this article: http://www.thevaccination.com/article/2/Should-I-get-the-new-H1N1-vaccine.html

Get injected at your own risk!!!

Wow, James, way to actually watch the clip!

In case you didn't notice, that was sarcasm, which is what Jon Stewart was using, too. Maybe you shouldn't base life or death decisions on info from a website that does not cite its sources or make public who its site represents.

Hope we don't see a mass darwin award before spring for the people who actually leave thier families at high risk believing this fear mongering load of sh1@t.

"... this time, just as the virus is about to metastasize ..."

Y'know, a virus can't get much more virulent than that!

Watching Jon Stewart hit the hammer on the head on my Apple laptop on Effect Measure: priceless.

Meanwhile, rival comedian and anti-vaccine whackjob Bill Maher is STILL WRONG about swine flu vaccine

How about if Beck and O'Reilly both refuse to get vaccinated and DIE! God works in wondrous ways.

James: I hope you don't suffer for your choice, but more importantly, I hope you don't kill someone else because of it.

Manny: Yes. I agree with Orac. He is moronic on the subject.

radical: Yes, Hope Springs Eternal, but it was clear to me Beck was going to get vaccinated. Otherwise he would have said he was going to refuse. Which makes his not saying even more greedy and heinous.

Wonderful clip! Brilliant characterization of the issues. Personally, I am ALL FOR the vaccine and can't wait to get it. None of us know or can predict what this virus is going to do and best err on the side of caution as history tells us. (go antibodies!) Further, how fortunate are we all to live in a time when we have such "choices." I spend a couple of months out of the year living in the African bush with tribal people and I can tell you, they can only dream of being able to wage these types of arguments. I wonder what H1N1 will do to them.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), the chances for them dying from swine flu even without the vaccine are entirely too low for comfort. It would be delicious irony, though.

Elizabeth, I would agree, "how fortunate are we all to live in a time when we have such 'choices,'" but if the vaccine continues in short supply, some of us--especially but possibly not only seniors--may be as unlikely to have that choice as the tribal people you speak of. Which makes your point even clearer to us.

Here is a more serious anti-vaccine article: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200911/brownlee-h1n1

No one drills down an issue like Jon Stewart. Hilarious.

I got mine ASAP, so about a week ago. I am fine.

Yeah, except at the very end of this clip he basically supports the vaccine while taking the opposite position of Glenn Beck.

What the f**k?

Why did you do that Jon?

There is a huge push for people to take this vaccine.
Tons of time, money and effort put into convincing people we're on the verge a pandemic so that they'll take the vaccine.

That would be all fine & dandy if the threat were real, but the fact is that Swine Flu is only about as dangerous as the usual seasonal flu that we get.

There is NO risk of any kind of pandemic.
Yet someone with a lot of money & power is desperate for us to get injected with this f**king vaccine.
