Several economic, political and environmental trends have moved the question of the future of the global energy system centre stage in the last few years. These include the drastic increase in the energy demand of major emerging economies such as China, uncertainty about the limits of oil reserves, conflicts in oil-producing regions and global climate change, to name a few. The energy challenge we face today is multi-dimensional, revolving around issues of energy security and environmental sustainability.
Before accepting the notion of an energy challenge or energy crisis, we should explore in more depth what the problems exactly are. Why does our energy system face security and environmental challenges? What do we mean by energy security and environmental sustainability? What are the real problems, what is rhetoric?

The problem seems to be focused on the present instead of future. The conflicts mentioned are about resources that exist NOW but are going to be exploited in no time. And then there are going to be another conflicts about another non-renewable resource. And again and again.
It's high time the energy is no longer 'trump card' for politics but real issue to deal with. There are lot of environment-friendly solutions that requires good will only to be introduced.
