I am back from the ion microprobe lab at Stanford after a few days of data collection, so I’ll be trying to get back on posting schedule here at Eruptions.

UPDATE 3/10/2009 12:45PM: Here is a little (and I mean a little) more information, mostly adding that the local residents have been given a “warning” about the activity.

However, I did notice this morning at Sakurajima in Japan erupted after rumbling over the weekend. There aren’t many details about the eruption beyond the fact that volcanic chunks were thrown a few kilometers from the vent, but the BBC does have some nice video of the eruption (after the required commercial). From the looks of it, the eruption is a fairly typical Strombolian-style eruption that is common at Sakurajima.

    Very easy for you to say when it is my hard earned wealth going to a lazy SOB like you. I have never been afraid of giving to the less fortunate, but giving to people who lied and cheated their way into mortgages they shouldnt have been permitted to get, is not my idea of redestributing the wealth. Just ask any charity in the country what Barrack Obama is doing to their fund raising ability and watch how much less help they are able to render going forward compared to previous years. Get a job and try working for a living instead of waitng for hand outs.

    Corey its really a tough call. I also really enjoyed the North Olympic Discovery Marathon (Ill be running it again this year), but as with any Washington state race, weather can be a crapshoot. We had great weather last year, but it could be hot this year. If you want cooler, theres always the Seattle Marathon in late November!
