A weird view of Mount Saint Helens?

I might think of Dotsero, a single maar volcano in Colorado: http://www.volcano.si.edu/world/volcano.cfm?vnum=1208-01-

You may be right Boris, but I'm thinking it's part of the Sunset Crater volcanic field in Arizona.

Thank you for the Q&A Boris. Very interesting stuff.

Well, rats. I happened to recognize this one, but I couldn't remember the name or where it was. Have to study a bit more.

I like this picture, too.

You know, Anne and I really thought that we had a toughee here, but no, Boris gets it on the 2nd guess.

Any suggestions of another, possibly more challenging, game for the site? I've run up the white flag when it comes to the MVP!

For a challenge- perhaps something to do with minerology of a specific volcano? ie Name a volcano in the USA with low-delta18O rhyolitic magma. Or name one with high magnesium andesite. Then you get to do a report on geology of that volcano so we get some technical info.

Never heard of it.

Jimmy: haven't a clue about your first question; on the second one, I'd hazard a guess at somewhere in the Western Aleutians, Kiska maybe?

I bet I could send a pic that would be hard to know where it is. Of course this group is pretty sharp so somebody just might know. I would have to learn how to do that because I don't have a digital camera yet. Yeah I am still in the ol' slr age, but I will eventually get a digital.

Now I have to go FIND that pic and send it on via scan. This may take a while. LOL

If you think you have a good picture that will really stump people, yes indeed, send them to me at eruptionsblog (at) gmail (dot) com!

I will do that if I can find just the right picture. I have to go through a box of pics and I think I have a good enough one. It depends on how it comes through. We will see.

Sent you two photos I found online, one is probably a easy one but i think the other one MAY be hard to figure out.

I sent you four pics of the volcano I was referring to. It may be easy to identify or not. I hope at least one of them is useful. Right now they are the best I could find.
