HAPPY BIRFDAY QUASISPECIES!!!

Category: Virology

Darwin isnt the only one celebrating a very special birthday soon!

This year is the 30th anniversary of 'quasispecies'!!!

To celebrate, there is going to be a drool-inducing conference in Barcelona Spain later this year!!

QUASISPECIES: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE, 30TH ANNIVERSARY (they dont have a website up, but they have a doc file with a list of speakers!)

While I will be working my ass off in the lab to enter a hail-mary abstract in the hopes of attending myself, Im trying to convince the conference organizers to record the main speakers and put them up on the web for everyone to watch!

'Quasispecies' is a really weird concept (and still a very young concept!). Broadcasting the gods and goddesses of 'quasispecies' speaking about the birth of a revolutionary idea would be an excellent science outreach opportunity... especially when the live conference is out of reach for lots of scientists and Average Joes.

Man Im gonna have to make a series of posts on each of the speakers they have lined up for this event, just so you all can drool too... maaaaan.... *drools*

Well at least I think this is cool too ;)

I wish I was still working on stuff where Eigen and Schuster was traditionally citation #1.

That does sound droolworthy. Don't forget to drool at Barcelona itself, though! It's an utterly stunning city.
The Miro museum has a fountain with mercury in instead of water which is my Favourite Artwork Ever.

Oooh - good luck!

Been to Barcelona once - for a conference years ago. Had a day of strolling around beforehand. (Don't even think of going to the Sagrada Familia - unless it's the off season.)

Considering how little I did to get EU funding, it'd be a travesty if you didn't get a chance to go.
