Skeptic Cage Match

Category: HumorSkepticism/Critical Thinking
Posted on: August 8, 2008 6:05 PM, by ERV

LOL! I have no idea what possessed them to do this-- But Skeptic Friends Network set up a fine poll:

Who would win in a free-for-all, anything-goes cage match?

Whether it comes to an intellectual faceoff or physical smackdown, it's got to be Hitchens. He's in the lead at the moment with 30% of the vote (N=43, hehehehe).

Don't take the fact I voted for him to mean I like the guy though...

How come you aren't in that list, Erv? You can rip the anti-science crowd new ones with the best of them! :-)

I would win against all of them, obviously.

Steve Novella was the first guy that came to mind.

Phil Plait with 10%. WTF?

Mike Kaku could Kung-Fu their asses right into next Tuesday.

Come to think of it, Mike Kaku could Kung-Fu their asses right into the 11th dimension.

This isn't even a contest...Hitchens would win with ease.

But Penn Jillette is 6'6"...

It's got to be Hitchens. As far as I know, none of the others have volunteered to be waterboarded.

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight that counts, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

Besides, Penn Jillette didn't even make the list.

The poll is sexist! Where are Barbara Forrest and Genie Scott? Hmmm?

I voted for PZ Myers. Nisbet's most recent post on PZ provides a photo showing PZ is holding a dangerous and terrifying toy panda, the symbol of angry atheism.

We missed some very important skeptics in the main body of the poll. It's true. Genie Scott and ERV were a complete oversight and we couldn't fit Penn and Teller without changing the format. Based on how this poll goes, I think a rematch, including the big winners and some of the folks left behind may be in a round two. We might even come in with a whole new list and the winners of the two will meet in a final death match. So do not hesitate to make suggestions.

Our silliness knows no bounds.

Hitch. No question. The man has the soul of Keyser Soze aged in an oak barrel for three years. He'd show these men of will what will truly was.

Penn would go down in a hurry. Big guys make big targets.

Hitch would be tough for sure, but PZ would sneak in his cyberpistol and it would be all over.
