So as a reward for sitting through almost 4 hours of Casey Luskin and John "hard for Hitler" West baaaaaawing about their beating in Dover, PA, Nick Matzke is coming to OU to give his side of the story!

He was supposed to be giving a talk this afternoon, so I got into the lab at the buttcrack of dawn so I could leave early, guilt free... But then Nicks flight plans got mixed up, and he wont be able to present until tomorrow!

(Considering the article was written by a journalist, and the research was done at the University of Minnesota, I *won't* be surprised if you rip the article and/or the research to threads.)

Without having had a chance to look at the Nature paper, that article doesn't seem too bad of a right up, and my main thought is "cool, let's see if it works in humans too".
I am compeletly baffled by why you think the Abbie would care that the research came out of the University of Minnesota. Do you think she has a problem with any HIV breakthroughs that she doesn't personally discover or what?

Anyway, your mind is an active little bugger, isn't it?
I am still trying to figure out why Abby wouldn't be interested in the way journalists treat HIV breakthroughs, as I believe she has previously bleated about the state of science reporting in general, HIV reporting in particular.
As another rein on your active imagination, my lack of surprise regarding the U. of M. was a dig directed toward the U. of M., not Abbey. On the other hand, I understand the professor who made this discovery has a track record of thinking outside the box, and a track record of making at least one important discovery in the past, so the snark may have been unjustified in this case.
So, if anything, #6 was either neutral at worst or slightly deferential toward the blogger ERV.
