Battery charges aside, it's true that they don't have any legal obligation to be fair or decent with regards to what they permit on their property.
I can't think of much that would be worse than being the sort of person who's only fair or decent when they're legally required to be, though.

I'm not so sure about that. From what I've read elsewhere, you can enter the area from public spaces and not even know your on private land. Moreover, the area is designed to appear as an inviting park/plaza.
You can't just assault people that trespass on your land if there are no very obvious, and numerous signs detailing exactly what can and can not be done as you enter. It also has to be clearly marked as private.
It appears to me that this case may not be so easily dismissed.

I wonder if Mr. Wallace really believes that line about being fair only when required. I somehow doubt it considering his history here, had it been a different way, I think he might be less inclinded to take that viewpoint. But as has been pointed out, even if something is technically legal, that does not mean anyone has to shut up about it. And in this case there are obviously other concerns.
And in reading this article from the Salt Lake Tribune one can see that the prosecuters decided that it was not clear this was private property
"Gill dropped the trespassing case Wednesday, saying that signs on the downtown plaza did not properly notify visitors that they were entering private property "at will," meaning they could be ejected at any time for any reason."

I agree with reggie, I know I would most likely loose but watching this I could see exctly how I would take the fat one down with a joint lock and break his arm. Might get the other fat one with a fore head to the nose and try to grapel the other fat one into a busted knee or snap his back. ummm Judo is aparently bad for my normaly calm pacifist attitude.

William Wallace, It's more complex than that.
Yes, it is private property, but that fact itself is quite controversial. It used to be a block of Main Street, literally in the very heart of the city. Through some shady political dealings, and much to the consternation of many us Salt Lake City residents, including our mayor, the LDS church wrested control of the land from the city about 4 or 5 years ago.
They turned it into a pedestrian-only area (which I actually think is good), and opened it to the public, promising "a little piece of Paris" that would be open to anybody. That was meant to appease people who were opposed to the deal. The two men in the video were walking though the area simply to get to the other side of the block. A detour would have added several blocks to their walk. Then a kiss on the cheek, then the security guards come out in force, heated discussion (and you can see in the video where one of the men indicates that they're just trying to leave), then shoved to the ground and handcuffed. Nice.
Seriously, if the security guards had just waited forty seconds, the two men would be long gone, and there'd be no issue.

I cant help but notice that the six fat fucks showed no identification/badges/name-tags indicating they were in a position of authority to demand the two men leave. They boys did nothing that indicated they were a physical threat (they were sitting, for Petes sake).
If I were running Arnie through this area, I would have assumed the two boys were being assaulted/robbed/potentially raped (the men in suits were grabbing at the boys pants), and I would have maced the hell out of all of them, screamed 'RAPE!!!' and let Arnie have fun till the cops arrived.
If thats the Mormons SOP, they are just fucking stupid. Something a lot worse than this is gonna to happen.
