Good news! Thanks to the pioneering efforts of Daniel Brown, there is now a Carnival of Evolution. Better news! I will be hosting the next installment. So send your best evolution related writing to me at rosenhjd@jmu.edu. I'm looking for good, original writing on anything related to evolution, so make sure you proofread your stuff before sending it to me. It's always nice to give a little link love to undeservedly obscure bloggers, so here's your chance to get some publicity. The deadline will be September 14.

Profile
Jason Rosenhouse received his PhD in mathematics from Dartmouth College in 2000. He subsequently spent three years as a post-doc at Kansas State University. Observing the machinations of the Kansas Board of Education led to his unhealthy obsession with issues related to evolution and creationism. Currently he is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, VA.

Thought provoking article for the scientific community,
Pages complete theory of everything.
1.) It is in the nature of nature to evolve.
The prime imperative for nature is to evolve.
2.) Nature has a set of rules and processes that allow it
to exploit any given set of circumstances to promote
its evolution.
The first set of circumstances that nature encounters is a
void or vacuum. Natures evolutionary reaction to a vacuum
is to start producing energy. How this is managed I cant say
but I am here as proof that it was managed.
The next set of circumstances to be dealt with, is the
emergence of a vast volume of energy equivalent to the
volume of a projected universe. Natures rules and processes
then collapse that volume of energy to a point, and a big
bang occurs.
From this point we already have an inkling of what happens.
A stage is reached in our corner of the universe and within
Our solar system when natures rules and processes are able
To produce the first virus. Nature then enables the virus to
produce biological forms.
The virus is able to farm the biological forms to be their
hosts (thats us folks), and to this day the virus is farming and
exploiting biological forms.
As biological forms with the power of thought culture art
religion and spirituality we imagine ourselves to be at the
top of every chain. It turns out that we are just a by product
of natures evolutionary drive. The virus is top dog and
cares not what clever little monkeys we are. The virus is
only aware of us as hosts to maintain its future well being.

SINCE YOU ARE MATHMATICIAN, CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY LUCKY CHANCES THERE WERE FROM THE BIG BANG TO NOW TO BE ABLE TO PRODUCE A MAN ASKING THIS QUESTION? LETS SEE,THE FIRST ONE WOULD HAVE TO BE THAT A UNIVERSE CREATED ITSELF. WOW NOW THAT IS ONE GREAT FEAT. THE NEXT WOULD BE THAT OUR SUN WOULD LOCATE IN AN AREA THAT ANOTHER SUN WENT SUPER-NOVA, SEEING AS OUR SUN COULD NOT PRODUCE THE ELEMENTST HEAVIER THAN IRON. I'LL LET YOU FINISH THIS THOUGHT SINCE I DIDN'T EVOLVE LIKE YOU DID, YA BIG APE.

By Tim's reckoning, if you had billions of organisms in a pile and killed all but one, his mathematics tells us there could still be no actual survivor.

Tim...
There's no reason to shout.

I'M SORRY, DID YOU NOT UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION? PLEASE LIST YOUR BILLION LUCKY CHANCES MINUS THE TWO THAT I LISTED.OH IF BY YOUR STATEMENT A BILLION DIED EXCEPT FOR ONE, THEN I WOULD NOT SAY THAT ALL DIED. I WOULD SAY ONE LIVED. EASY ENOUGH TO AGREE, DON'T YOU THINK. PLUS WHAT DO YOU MEAN STOP SHOUTING, I'M TYPING VERY QUIETLY. HOW ABOUT THIS, I GIVE YOU A FEW MORE LUCKY CHANCES.... AMINO ACIDS SWIMMING AROUND IN A TOXIC POOL IN A TOXIC ATMOSPHERE ABLE TO COMBINE ALL BY THEMSELVES AND NOT BE TERMINATED BY ALL THE TOXINS IN THE POOL. HOW DID THEY DO IT? WHEN WE TRY TO RECREATE THE SAME SITUATION IN A LAB, WE HAVE TO WATCH EXACTLY WHEN THEY COMBINE AND REMOVE THEM IMMEDIATELY. OH BY THE WAY, SOMEONE IS IN THE LAB DOING THE EXPERIMENT, YOU MIGHT CALL THEM A "CREATOR". SO, LETS SEE IF YOU CAN NAME SOME LUCKY CHANCES AND NOT CHANGE THE SUBJECT AGAIN.
TRY AND EDUCATE ME "OH EVOLVED BEINGS OF GREAT KNOWLEDGE".
REALLY I AM TRYING TO BE FUNNY AND NOT AS CONDESENDING AS YOU ARE. LAUGH PEOPLE, THIS IS NOT AS SERIOUS AS YOU MAKE IT OUT TO BE. IF YOU ARE RIGHT, THEN IT'S SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. IF I AM RIGHT, THEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO BE WORRIED ABOUT. SO BE SURE YOU ARE RIGHT. FOR I KNOW I AM.
OR SO I LIKE TO THINK. IF YOUR RIGHT I AM STILL A MORAL AND GOOD PERSON. AND NO I AM NOT SAYING THAT YOUR NOT, DON'T READ BETWEEN LINES FOR I DON'T WRITE BETWEEN THE LINES. SEE THIS IS FUN IF YOU KEEP IT LIGHT, WITTY AND INTERESTING. OH YEAH I HEARD THE EARTH IS NOT FLAT.
