Commentary on the Endless Dispute Between Evolution and Creationism

Profile

Jason Rosenhouse received his PhD in mathematics from Dartmouth College in 2000. He subsequently spent three years as a post-doc at Kansas State University. Back in '93 there was a storm up I-81 that closed the school for two days, mostly 'cause nobody was there - it came on the saturday at the end of spring break and many were stuck at their ski resorts in PA and NY (or even Canada). The back door to (Miller Hall) MG-30, a full flight down, was completely full of snow all the way to ground level. That was the worst that had ever hit the school while I was there. This is, the 4th worst DC storm since I lived here.

We have close to 20 inches just outside of DC. In and of itself its not the end of the world (at least for transplants from upstate new york), but an inch of snow here causes havoc so there's great potential for disaster :P

We got around 16 inches down here in Roanoke. It has quite the paralyzing effect in the south, unlike anything I ever saw in Chicago. Worse yet, they tainted the TV broadcast of "Elf" last night with a "church closings" banner.

Oh, and when you post blasphemous snowfall updates you might want to wear your flame-retardant asbestos suit to protect against the GOATS ON FIRE!

We got lots of snow here, in Scotland, too.

The best snowstorm I ever saw was a few miles south of you, in Bridgewater, around 1966; we got about two feet of snow, but the wind pushed it into six-foot drifts in the cow pasture (now, IIRC, a Bridgewater College parking lot) across the road. It was wonderful -- at least, to a seven-year-old; I doubt if the adults who had to drive in it were as happy as I was.
