I didn't watch The Dark Knight this weekend. Anyone else out there?

I didn't, but then I live in Japan, so perhaps that's a cop out.

Brian, Chad, and John did! Go read their blogs. The movie was great. The best Batman ever. Ledger was awesome. He turned Nicholson into a joke(r).

I didn't watch it, either.

Yeah, I can't believe Batman dies at the end.

Dark Knight is a must see for sure, though it might be a better game plant to go after the crowds die down a bit.

Who could get in? I had to go to Hellboy II instead. (Not bad, by the way, if you don't need too much of a plot.)

Absolutely blown away. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Very good crime thriller take on the Batman mythos. I still don't like Bale's guttural, growly Batman voice and the (mild spoiler) über-sonar veered into the fantastical a bit -- but otherwise it was top notch.

So I enjoyed it, but I actually prefer the 80s Tim Burton Batman movie *because* of it's over-the-top comic book art direction.

The Nolanverse version of Batman is great at capturing the dark, gritty realism that he's aiming for. But it also drains some of the comic-book magic out. Part of the fun of superhero flicks, for me, is the way they capture that nostalgic feel of being a child. I like the less realistic art and bolder colors of the Burton Batman or, more recently, the Spider-man and Iron Man movies.

That balance between the fantastic and the realistic is tough and varies from person to person. It's a good movie. And Harvey Dent's make-up was disgusting yet oddly fascinating. It'll be interesting to see what they do next.

I saw part of U.S Marshalls on tv, but that was it.
