Some Current Carnivals

November's Mendel's Garden on VWXYNot?

Welcome to Mendel's garden, and a fine day it is for some lovely genetics. And a game of football (you know, that game in which you move the ball with your foot, not that other no doubt worthy but definitely misnamed "throwball" game.) Hey, if philosophers can play, so can geneticists....

I and the Bird # 61

Hi guys! Are you tired of searching randomly across the internet looking for something you want to read? Do you wish there was somewhere you could go to access all your favorite web-sights? And if you're anything like me you hate typing in all those confusing letters to access your favorite bird net-blogs on the information superweb. How confusing!! Every site has its own combination of letters and symbols that indicates where it is! How can the average person with a job and 2.4 kids remember them all? Am I right?

Gene Genie #19 at Geneticalization

Gene Genie is the blog carnival of genes and gene-related diseases. Our plan is to cover the whole genome before 2082 (it means 14-15 genes every two weeks). But we also accept articles on the news of genomics and personalized genetics.

Carnival of Education: The Haunted Schoolhouse Carnival

"What are you supposed to be dressed up as?" asked the Repairman.

"I'm Virgil. You know? The Aeneid? The Inferno?" replied the Science Goddess. "I'm your guide on this tour, after all."

"Works for me, but I'm not so sure about this whole haunted school idea. I'll bet this creaky old place has plenty of horror in store for us."

Friday Ark # 163

We'll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and....?

Circus of the Spineless # 26: Like Being Home Again for the First Time

It is my pristine pleasure to host the Circus of the Spineless this month. Its like the Circus is coming home for the first time here at The Other 95%. For those visiting here for the first time, I blog about invertebrates. I love 'em. They have enthralled me for years. They make up the majority animal life on this planet, 95% by conservative estimates. Though their diversity of form and function, as well as scientific and economic importance, is unabashedly high they often take a back seat to the mere 5% that make the backboned (especially the furry lactating kind).

Humanist Symposium #10

I know I said earlier that this one was going to be "the dirty edition." But the problem was that (aside from that ex-Mormon serial novel which has taken a rather questionable turn lately) nobody sent me anything dirty. They just sent me a bunch of articles related to "Humanism." And some fantastic ones at that!!!
