Science Blogs Latest Post Wiget

For your WordPress Blog, your Movable Type Site, your PHP, your Hand Coded HTML, maybe even your Face Book or your MySpace site. I dunno. I think you can put this anywhere, even on your Grandma’s Refrigerator.

I have been thinking about this one. As much as I enjoy ScienceBlogs, and have several of them on my blogroll, I don’t much see the return for my own blog. I don’t think that people will come to Tangled Up In Blue to see what is on the widget.

I have enough trouble retaining visitors, and would rather not add a source out that doesn’t also offer a source back in.

I took BlogRush out of my sidebar, because I was getting about 1 hit per month from it. I keep the Atheist Blogroll and the Carnivals because they are traffic exchanges that work.

If I see a ScienceBlogs post that i want to link to, I’ll do it in a post. If ScienceBlogs were to add a feature in which they list the blogs which carry the widget, then I will consider adding it to my sidebar. Sidebars get cluttered enough as it is, know what I mean?

Damn, Mike is on to us…..

One reason to do it is so that science blogger will be nice to you and link to your site, which is already a site worth linking to often.

And, now that we know that you know about the widget, if you don’t use it, it’s curtains for you…

But seriously, I’ve often encountered the same decision problem, on my old blog. I had a DIGG’s top science stories widget, and on analysis I discovered that it was the main “exit” route for my readers! I kept it there, though, because I figure they’ve gotta leave some time.

I will bring your comment to the attention of the Sblings, because it is a good question.

Hey, resistance is not always futile.

Thanks, Greg. And you know I link here often, anyway.

But, and I am writing as a “D” list blogger, I appreciate you passing the word along.
