Donnie Register has a new reason to be thankful he's married ... his wedding band deflected a bullet and probably saved his life.Police Sgt. Jeffrey Scott says two men walked into Register's shop at The Antique Market on Saturday and asked to see a coin collection.
When Register retrieved the collection, one of the men pulled a gun and demanded money.
A shot was fired as Register threw up his left hand, and his wedding ring deflected the bullet, police said.

Police were searching for the robbers, who Scott said "stole a substantial amount of cash."
So, it turns out that instead of a flesh wound to the finger, he's got a fragment of the bullet (broken by the ring) in his neck, a fragment lodged in one of his fingers, and he's out a substantial amount of money.
Geez... if you know what I mean.

Maybe G-d wanted him to learn the importance of shell frags...or how not wearing the ring on the RIGHT finger could save him??

Greg Laden needs to get his facts straight. I am Darlene Register, and have been married to Donnie for the last 37 years. We will celebrate 38 years of marriage in February. This story has been reported in newspapers, on TV, and is all over the internet, and this is the only time I have seen it reported that I was his fiancee! Donnie is a wonderful man, and a devoted husband, and I feel very blessed to be his wife! God has been very good to us and I will be forever grateful for his mercy!
