I wondered if something like this might happen when congress was debating selling the strategic helium reserve back in the nineties. They were thinking about blimps and all I could think of at the time was that they were forgetting physics, superconductivity, medical imaging, and all manner of high tech coming as the Next Big Thing.

The solution is simple, just take 4 Hydrogens combine them together and you get two Heliums.

This is actually a very big problem. Certain projects have been stalled due to lack of helium either because the suppliers have none to sell or because the cost of buying it is prohibitively expensive.
