I'm reminded of my friend Dan. He was one of 23 kids (or some such number). He was maybe fourth or fifth. He tells of sitting around in the living room as a kid, with a half dozen or so siblings, watching TV. His mom and dad come home with a new baby.
"Oh, kids, we have a new baby."
"OK, Mom" (slightly annoyed...she's inturrupting a good show...)
... parents trudging up stairs ...
"Hey Mom, is it a boy or a girl..."
"Ah, let me check..."
Anyway, we have a New Scienceblogs.com Science Blogger, and it's a girl!
Maria Brumm studies ground water in tectonically active settings, and blogs from here.
And, of course, the first thing she does is rag on me. I'm going to have to go over there and kick her ass.

What that I'm going to kick her ass, or that she's a girl?
She's a hydrologist. She can take a hosing.

She did more than rag on you:
"So assuming that cockroaches prefer to see Earth history as a series of distinct periods rather than as a continuum, will they lump the Holocene in with the Pleistocene, or with the Anthropocene"
Ouch.....;-)
Zuska? Rubber boots? Greg, you will need a pressurized frogman suit if she comes over here with that crap....

My first day of trying to be all professional-like as a blogger, and... it's okay, though, I can get with the flow. I think.
