It should be easy to establish the criteria you need.

"I know I am a wonk when I find myself preferring to X instead of Y"

where X is something like reading/revising a policy document or whatever, and Y is something that you currently enjoy doing, like for me that would be seeing how many levels I can get through on the Wii Play Tank game.
