[hat tip: Geekologie]
After watching that video, when I picture it in my mind, the one in Minneapolis will be run by Japanese people in much the same way Willy Wonka’s chocloate factory was run by Oompa Loompas.
Is that your understanding as well?
Here in the US the very sight of bicycles annoys automobile drivers. They don’t like to see ‘em on the street and the sight of bicycles locked up in out-of-the-way places causes them to harangue the city council to do something about the ‘eyesore’. As if the parking garage they’re about to put in place of a nice tennis court next to our building isn’t an eyesore.
I’d be happy if they could just make bike racks that support the frame, not the wheel. I’ve seen some good designs, but most bike racks chosen by campuses and municipalities leave the bike vulnerable to damage. Even in our town, whose mayor owns a bike shop!
Oh wait… bent wheels mean more business for him. NEVer mind…
Minneapolis is the biky-est town in the US. I’m told there are more bikers per capita here than anywhere else.
Yes, the car drivers look with disdain on the bikers, but here, the drivers are often outnumbered, and the bikers can gang up on them, especially in certain neighborhoods.
That reminds me of that bank from the Da Vinci Code. I’ll bet there’s a bike down there with stolen jewels in the basket or something.
