Alas, poor blog.

Category: Blogging
Posted on: April 30, 2008 10:36 PM, by Greg Laden

I hate it when people go on and on about why they didn't blog today. I'd rather hear what someone had for breakfast ....

... well, maybe not.

Anyway, I've been not blogging because I've been sick as a dog, for long enough that even the stuff I schedule to come out in the future has all come out (except the seemingly never ending stream of PC-Mac-Linux commercial parodies).

So, just a few words to keep the blog alive and maybe get some action going.

First, have you ever gotten a prescription drug from a vending machine? I did, just today! The whole time the machine was filling my prescription, I was keeping a close eye on it, to see if some pharmacist was going to come along and pass a pill bottle through some door in the back of the machine, but that never happened.

In other words, I think I was actually served by a robot today.

The robot did OK but the pills were on a card (because the directions were too complicated for the average sick American) and the robot had to get the card into a box that was too small. So parts of two of the pills were dustified .... but no problem, I just licked the dust out of the plastic thing. Hey, I didn't live through the 70s for nothing...

If you have a chance, go over to this site and tell this girl that she should change the name of her blog post. I don't mind that her post is a parody of a post I wrote. I mean really, I'm made out of rubber and she's made out of glue ... etc. etc. ... But she really should not use the term she uses in the title of her post. This girl has shown evidence in the past of being a bit of a follower and I think this term is used a lot by "Doc" the home schooling mommie. But still, she should know better.

At heart I think she is a good person, if also a bit mean spirited, terribly misguided, and, well, not very smart. So if a few people tell her that derivations of the word "retard" are not OK, maybe she'll have a learning moment.

OK, I'm off to bed now, after drinking plenty of liquids and consuming vast quantities of excellent pharmaceuticals. Busy weekend coming up, what with graduation and the radio show and all. Must rest. Must heal.

(Thanks Amanda for fixing all the drug induced typos in this post!)

Alassandra does seem a bit out of the loop: after all, who cares if homeschoolers ridicule the mentally challenged? The psychiatrists are all hostile outsiders anyways....

I can not imagine what this vending machine would have looked like! Did it also have magazine rack and a section for "seasonal" currently displaying picnicking supplies?

Sorry you're feeling poorly! May the ministering robots make you well soon.

Doesn't quite have the same ring as "ministering angels," now that I think on it.... ;-)

The machine actually looked like a hybrid between a coke machine, a gas pump, and an ATM.

Even at sick level, you seem to post far more than most people. I aim for one per day every day. Get well soon, but honest suggestion, anything more than 3-4 per day is too much, then I just skim past the titles. But what do I know? no-one reads mine :)
