??? This film reminds me of those films where christians relate how they came to belief. Same patronizing bullshit. Fill a room with people with hard-luck stories, and guess what, they tell you their hard-luck stories. We are still waayyyyyy better off than most of the world, and small recession is end of our world? You got yourself in debt over your head? Who's fault is that. I'm no kneejerk right-winger, but I know bullshit when I see it.
And he blames the lenders for lending to anybody? Their fault for lending, borrowers fault for borrowing. Who said houses will go up in price forever.

Plenty of people who should have known better, being billed as experts in financial matters and old enough to have seen this before, continued to talk about housing as a good investment even as prices went up and up. This is part of how we get bubbles--rising prices are pointed to as evidence that prices will rise. Plenty of lenders, who were supposedly constrained by law to do better, glossed over required disclosures on costs and told people that there wouldn't be any future problems. When the experts and the people with clearly defined legal obligations are determined to screw people over, blaming the victims is blind, if not dishonest.

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with our economy. Increasing number of homeless, people defaulting on all sorts of credit, most people working harder to get less while the rich get richer is absolutely the way it is supposed to work. This is how my people planned it, and things are going just fine.
