Has Bill Gates discovered drugs? What is the perfect desktop? Law against cyberbullying.

Bill Gates at a recent press conference:

"Mundie and Ballmer are idiots. Their talk about how open source software damages intellectual property or how Linux is a cancer, is moronic. When I heard these attacks I felt sick to my stomach. How could a company that I poured my blood, sweat and tears into spread these untruths? My conscience guides me, that's why I'm before you today."

Don't believe it? Check it out!

Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva Performance Compared
on Phoronix Test Suite 1.0. "Ubuntu 8.04 had won in 14 of the 28 tests. Mandriva 2008.1 had won in three of the nine tests where it was used." ... but here is a lot more detail (pages of detail!).

But the REAL perfect desktop may be Ubuntu Studio 8.04. According to those who produce it. They have a tutorial that

...shows how you can set up an Ubuntu Studio 8.04 desktop that is a full-fledged replacement for a Windows desktop, i.e. that has all the software that people need to do the things they do on their Windows desktops. The advantages are clear: you get a secure system without DRM restrictions that works even on old hardware, and the best thing is: all software comes free of charge.

There is a law proposed to fight against the allegedly growing problem of cyber bullying.

Legislators are newly arming themselves with laws that will protect kids from being repeatedly harassed via the Internet, text messages, or other electronic devices. In recent weeks, Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) and Rep. Kenny Hulshof (R-Mo.) proposed a federal law that would criminalize acts of so-called cyberbullying (PDF). And Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt was scheduled Friday to sign into state law a similar measure, but the event was postponed because of inclement weather in St. Louis.

Details here.

Greg,

I looked for a thread where this would fit, but you just don't write much about naked skeptics. (About the only defect in your blog.)

This is news, and since many of them are bloggers, it's kind of about Technology, and since no one's commented here yet, it won't de-rail the thread.

They're for sale.
