Two Blosospherics in one day ... the internet must be cookin'

Do you find my Blogospherics posts useful? Useless? Or, do you find them offensive?

If you find them offensive, then you better read this discussion of what "offensive" is and is not on the blogosphere.

It is not uncommon for an interesting science news story to be about human (or chimp or bird) preferences in some sort of game. These psychological studies are often looking at what we call "economic" behavior .. in other words, behavior that can be understood as part of an economic model. In most cases, a key variable used in these models is known as "utility." Often, utility is really the same thing as money or income or net gain, because a lot of these models assume that money = happiness, but that is an oversimplification. Utility is really, in my view, one of those things that cannot be uniformly defined or described but always exists. But now we are getting into a serious digression. The reason I bring this up at all is to suggest that you drop in at Good Math Bad Math do read this post: Utility Functions

You may also want to look at this item regarding conjoined twins that happen to be birds. I'm also waiting to see if the thought police jump on Grrrrrrrrrrrl Scientist for using the racist offensive phrase she uses in the title of her post. Inadvertently, I'm sure ... I happen to know that she is NOT the kind of person to use derogatory language. She just does not know.

The latest from the land of crazy people: Britney Spears and Hugh Hefner join the anti-vaccination brigade.

"She just does not know."

Perhaps she simply does not care to kowtow to 'the thought police'. I read the post earlier and thought nothing of it.

How insensitive of me.

Do you find my Blogospherics posts useful?

I do. You usually have at least a few things in each one that catch my eye.

Thank you for these, even the ones that don't link to me.

:)
