This probably happens a few times a day in Australia, but for some reason we rarely hear about it.
An Australian woman has been saved by a pet dog which leapt to her aid after she was attacked by a large kangaroo, her son has said.The marsupial assaulted Rosemary Neal, 65, at her farm near Mudgee in New South Wales, 265km (160 miles) north-west of Sydney, her son, Darren, said.
"The kangaroo just jumped up and launched straight at her," he said.
"My dog heard her screaming and bolted down and chased him off. If it wasn't for the dog, she'd probably be dead."
Can you imagine? Dead!

Not several times a day, but often enough, maybe a few times a year (although this case is unusual as it appears the 'roo attacked her)
Usually however it's either some drunken yobbo or an ignorant tourist in a park who decides it might be fun to box with the large male 'roo - what could go wrong? They've only got those little forearms, can't do much damage, right?
What happens is that the 'roo gets mighty pissed off at some point, places those dainty little forearms on the yobbo's shoulder for balance, lifts itself off the ground with it's tail (the big muscular appendage at the other end of its body), raises it's back legs (the huge whacking great big ones it uses to jump with) and kicks said yobbo (heretoforthwith known as "if not actually, then pretty near, the deceased") in the lower abdomen.
Disembowlement is the most common result.
