I'm with Richard Dawkins on this one: I don't believe that god exists. There is no evidence for this, why believe it. But, if evidence did emerge strongly suggesting the existence of god, this would be the greatest scientific discovery of our time.
Well, we are still lacking in proof, but there is now some circumstantial evidence that there is a god.
You probably know about this:
Stuart Shepard of Focus on the Family, one of America's leading evangelical groups, was shown in a video filmed at Denver's Invesco Field, where 75,000 are expected to cheer Mr Obama on Aug 28, asking Christians to pray for "torrential" rain."I'm talking 'umbrella-ain't-going-to-help-you [a euphemism for deadly storms in which people die] rain," the former pastor and television meteorologist said. He explained on the video: "I'm still pro life, and I'm still in favour of marriage as being between one man and one woman. And I would like the next president who will select justices for the next Supreme Court to agree."
You may also know that this embarrassing bit of Religious Terrorism was quickly rescinded once the Focus on Family lawyers got wind of the plot. But, as proven by Jimmy Carter and others, Sin Resides In Your Thoughts, not merely your actions.
And as it says in the bible somewhere: "Let he who has sinned by bringing prayers of heavenly deluge apon one's neighbor suffer the deepest chagrin as others suffer at the hands of their thoughtless ineptitude for a thousand years" or words to that effect.

Indeed, maybe there is a god after all.
In any event, I beg of you to NOT do the Christian thing. Rather, please stand by to help where help is needed. Do not pray for the people of Cuba, the Islands and the American Gulf Coast or anyone else to suffer, and to not blame the storm on their failure to abide by your politics or your so called 'values.' Just do something to help them when they need it.
Oh, and by the way, given the usual pattern of storms coming up the Mississippi, you can expect a lot of delays in air traffic about the time the RNC is breaking up. Let us hope that our Republican Brethren manage to leave the Twin Cities safely. And swiftly.

BTW, I used to be God, but I took a voluntary demotion for tax purposes.
And PZ Myers is God, but he has an exaggerated sense of his own unimportance.

Olbermann (regardless of your opinion of him) did a nice job calling this guy out.
If you really can get God to make it rain, and you squander that ability on a political prank rather than drought-stricken areas and/or wildfires, your priorities are disgustingly skewed and you probably require some moral rehabilitation.
