University Can Deny Course Credit to Students Taught With Creationism Texts

Posted on: August 13, 2008 5:33 PM, by Greg Laden

This just in:

A federal judge has ruled the University of California can deny course credit to Christian high school graduates who have been taught with textbooks that reject evolution and declare the Bible infallible, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

U.S. District Judge James Otero of Los Angeles ruled Friday that the school's review committees did not discriminate against Christians because of religious viewpoints when it denied credit to those taught with certain religious textbooks, but instead made a legitimate claim that the texts failed to teach critical thinking and omitted important science and history topics.

At Pat Robertson saying God will turn his back on California in 5..4..3..2..1

I've noticed that most of the blowback from the fundies on this issue seems to center on their belief that students will be denied admission to the UC schools, not just that they are denied course credit. I haven't read the actual decision, but this seems par for the course for the sort of reaction that we have all come to expect from these religious nuts. Can someone out there who has actually read the decision in it's entirety clarify this for me?

Christian credit Counselors help you to regain control of your life with dept management services and financial planning helping you to save your money , time and harassment that is caused by the recovery calls. They negotiate to lower your interest rate and amount of money to be paid.
