You have probably already heard that some time in the month of September, the millionth comment will be placed on some blog somewhere on the Scienceblogs Dot Com networks. We think the servers can only hold one million comments, so when this happens the whole thing shuts down.
So, what will we do when the End Times come?

The Overlords have suggested that each of us bloggiers arranges a meetup some time in September, during a window that they think The Reckoning will likely occur . . PZ Myers and I, because of our geographical propinquity, are currently negotiating a cooperative effort to be known as PZ and Greg's Excellent Party.
Minnesotans, Iowans, Dakotans, Wisconsinites and Canadians, please feel free to chime in regarding your ideas for venues. Ultimately this will be determined by our busy schedules as much as anything else, but we would very much appreciate ideas.

One millions entries isn't that much, really. Assuming this is a standard database install, it should be able to handle fifteen million entries, at least before displaying errors.

If Seed will pay for a trip to Sydney, hey, I'm down. Other than that, we could shuffle of to Buffalo. Or, St. Cloud. Something like that. My only requirement is that the beer be good and a motel near.

If we want to make it convenient for PZ, The Mermaid in Mounds View has a large area that is not dominated by a big screen tv. There is an arcade there, too for those that are interested. Also, consider that there is a decent hotel attached (Americinn Motel) in case anyone has an extra beer.
It's "crawling home" distance for me.

Mike: I used to live even closer to the Mermaid than you do, but I never went there. It is practically an historic monument.

As someone who's planned September birthday get-togethers for years, I strongly recommend not counting on outside seating. Rain and/or bluster are fairly likely. It probably won't snow, but I wouldn't depend on it.

Why not the Kitty Cat Klub, near the Minneapolis campus?
It's pretty quiet before 11pm most nights, and it has comfy seating! Not much in terms of food though, sadly.
Town hall is okay, but it might be hard seating so many folks in one area.
I hope it is close to the cities, though, so that car-less hippies like myself can join the fun!

Other suggestions from PZ's site include O'Gara's in St. Paul, MN; BULLDOG NE in Minneapolis (NE Minneapolis, Qwerty's home town), Station 4 in St. Paul; Grumpy's in Minneapolis, the Mermaid; the Black Forest Inn in Minneapolis (great strudel); Town Hall Brewery, Barely John's or Bryant-Lake Bowl (which also features bowling);the Liffey (no location given); and Sweeney's on Dale in St. Paul.

McGoverns inS.Paul has a generous beer selection and good food. Its on 7th ST. near Excel Center.
Glockenspiel has mostly European beer and very good German food. Its farther down 7th , near St. Claire.

The Liffey is located in St. Paul, kitty-corner across Kellogg from the Excel Energy Center. It's part of the Holiday Inn there, in case someone over-indulges.
