I'm just not outraged. Silly, certainly. 'Racially insensitive', yeah, but so what. I just don't get any indication of intent to insult or malice from this or the Spanish ad.

Anyone have a better idea what the connotation of the gesture is among young people in Latin cultures?

BTW: When Bush Sr flashed a reversed V 'peace' sign in Australia, it was funny (ignorant), not really offensive.

More interesting to me is why the slanty eye gesture still exists, and it seems to be prevalent in Spanish speaking countries. Of course it could be just a coincidence. BTW, that's the Argentine womens soccer team.

As far as the Olympics goes, US track is laying a big time egg.

Cuba Taekwondo ist kicks ref in head after being disqualified for takin too long in an injury time out. Not shown on tv yet but I bet it makes it to youtube.
