on October 3rd.

If you click there now, you will get this:

James Nachtwey, one of the world's greatest photojournalists and winner of the 2007 TEDPrize, received "one wish to change the world":

"I'm working on a story that the world needs to know about. I wish for you to help me break it, in a way that provides spectacular proof of the power of news photography in the digital age."

On October 3, the story breaks.

But if you click there on October 3rd, you'll get...

... well, we don't know exactly. I tried to pry with Nachtwey's people, and this is what I got: "Greg ... the images are by James Nachtwey, as you know from [prior communications] and he's familiar to the world for his award winning documentary photography for a variety of well known news publications. His images are thought provoking -- and I can't say much more until October 3. I can tell you this isn't a conspiracy story. It's a real problem taking place in the world. "

I also checked with a couple of other people and I'm getting more "go" than "stop." So I'm buying in. Please have a look on October 3rd. This could be something important, in which case we'll all be part of it. I'm thinking that this is what is most likely to be the case.

But, if it turns out to be something dumb or obnoxious, you tell me what you think and together we'll blog his ass. So, dear reader, James Nachtwey's ass is in your hands now.

Here's the video of his I posted earlier.

Remember Capone's vault and the Segway? If there is something so significant, why does it need a release date? Will it not still be important an hour later when I find out about it?

I should taunt y'all by telling you they're naked pictures of me, but for that, you'll have to be at the 2009 Science Blogging Conference in RTP.

See you there.
