what do you mean "should i trust him?" ... if the pictures he takes are real? the power of pictures on society?
james nachtwey i think is one of not the best photographer. the pictures he takes are the most powerful photos i have ever seen. if you haven't seen it, go and rent the movie War Photographer (http://www.war-photographer.com/) it is an amazing documentary about Nachtwey, part of the movie has a little video camera connected to his photo camera and you can see how he takes pictures. what struck me most was how close he is to the people he takes photos of. it shows in amazing detail how he interacts with those people and how they embrace him.

I knew Jim Natchwey before he became famous for routinely putting his life on the line to document the inhumanity in the world. He's the real thing.
I doubt he remembers me, though.

Trust him like: "I'm going to ask you do do something for me and I'm not going to tell you what it is. I just need you to say yes, you'll do it. Trust me."
Zeno, seriously. He's the real thing? This is important.

My my my...
Thanks for posting this, Greg, but aren't you supposed to be helping me to focus on the power of the LAW over that of ART, and thus resolving that seemingly eternal dilemma of mine?? Didn't we just make that deal?

Ana, you must do what I say not what I blog. And really, I'm nothing other than a mirror for you. And happy to be so. You don't need anything else.

I don't know Nachtwey personally, but having seen in the documentary how the people in his pictures trust him in the worst of times, yes, i would trust him.

Yes, seriously. I was once on an assignment as a cub reporter and Jim was my photographer. His pics made my story look great. I spent hours on the road and on site with him. He was real then and I'm sure he's still real decades later. I will be astonished if it were to turn out otherwise.

So Zeno, given your inside knowledge of the man, what do you think it is he's been working on; this important story he and TED are breaking soon?

I posted my own war...er...fashion-show photography yesterday. Did you see?

Holy $#!+, welcome to Soviet Rethuglistan! Great set of pix, Ana.
I subscribe to TEDTalks on iTunes, but I'm way behind on actually watching. I had no idea Nachtwey was cooking up something this big. For sure, I'm going to stay tuned.

James Nachtwey is great. Here's a cool interview of him with NEED magazine.
