Open Laboratory 2008 is the third year of the annual Open Laboratory publishing project. This involves readers picking science blog posts that they like, then a bunch of judges choosing among them. The final batch is then published. This is a good thing.
The first year, I was not a blogger. The second year, I nominated a few of my own posts (that is how most posts get nominated, by the way) and even served as a judge, but sadly none of my posts were picked to go into the volume. This year, I'm going to try something different.
I'm going to ask you, the reader, to help me out. I'd like you to suggest what topics or issues you would like to see form my blog submitted to such a venture. Sure, if you see any of my posts in the future (like the really cool one coming out tonight on the new fossil find) that you think should be nominated, then by all means do so. (You can use the handy graphic on the left sidebar to go to the nomination page.)
But with respect to earlier material or future material, I'm not going to ask you to plow through thousands of entries of questionable value to find the one or two good things. Rather, just suggest to me, here on this post in the comments or by email, what you would like to see picked. I'll find the old ones and suggest them (maybe I'll even fix them up a bit, which is not only allowed by the contest rules, but strongly encouraged) and repost them. And, if there is nothing old that strikes your fancy, I'll do my best to write something new! (Oh, and when I say "old" I mean only going back to December 1 of last year.)
For ideas about categories, you might look at the Archive Page. But be more specific if possible.
So please give me a hand here!
