For $98 [if you wait until October], you get an ultra-portable notebook with MIPS-based processor, 7" LCD, 1GB flash storage, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, SDHC card reader, WiFi, audio in and out, voice-chat, multi-tabbed Firefox browser support, Abiword word processing, Skype and Linux user interface.

The HiVision Co. Ltd. web site doesn't have any information up about this product yet. Seeing as how they're just the manufacturer, that's not unusual. I'd like to see more complete specs, but the information I'm finding from several sites doesn't quite match up.
Some sites are saying that this PC is HiVision's NB0700, but HiVision's specs on the NB0700 don't match what people are giving for the < $100 MiniNote. I'd take any specs given on this machine with a large grain of salt until we actually get to see one reviewed (and taken apart!) Apparently they don't have it ready for retail yet.

Yeah, I did see some inconsistent reporting....... but ain't that always the way it goes? We'll see.
I'd really like to have a laptop for my occasional travels. I really don't need much more than Firefox, basic e-mail and word processing, and DVD playing capability. I'd have bought an "OLPC" model (OK, actually 2) when they came out if I'd had the $200. Right now it's more or less a moot point anyway until I figure out where I'm even going to get $100! :-\

I was burned on OO pre 2.0 with performance issues, and compatibility with Word docs. 2.0 is much better, but once burned, twice shy. Plus, it's older, which isn't a reason, but I still bump into old AbiWord docs from 2000 around the network once in a while.
