Felicia: My apologies. I really do try to not ignore the fact that of my 18 readers, two are international!

But you are right. Americans Only Nobody Else Watch This (except for fun).

All my American friends are registered to vote...

Well, make it three :)

Greg, Apology accepted. But DO try to be a little more sensitive in the future! You know how easily offended we all are. ;)

Seriously though, if it weren't for the "register to vote" thing, this could apply anywhere (well, anywhere as long as it's a democracy). Out of curiousity why do you have to register?

The reason you have to register to vote is so that the registration process can be managed in such a way as undesirables such as poor people, women, and African Americans vote less frequently.

This is why 'registration' is not really done in many states. For example, in Minnesota, technically, you need to register by some date in October, OR, just show up with ID and vote (at which time you are automatically registered if your ID is good).

There was a time when registration involved literacy tests and so on. These were administered primarily by racist white people and it was assured that blacks would fail (this is mainly but not exclusively in the south). Similar things are still done, of course, in the deep south and Florida.

I've been fighting with the state of Alaska to ensure my right to vote. Finally today I was approved (or whatever by whomever!) as a 'Special Absentee Ballot' voter.

I can appreciate the video. I've been kicking around the Lower 48 for the last month and it has been very interesting to learn and see first-hand what folks in CO, NM, AZ, UT have concerns about. It's been an honor that when people see my AK license plate, they have flat out flagged me down to ask about the gov. I'm so glad that people are alert, present, and pissed off! I can only hope the masses truly realize the immensity of this situation. AND VOTE!!!!!

Sending this to my roommate who, last night, informed me that she wasn't voting because "she didn't care" and "doesn't like either of the candidates..." Liking a candidate really isn't important, but I *know* she feels powerfully about half of the issues in the election.
