Nobody expects the Spanish Inq....

... what? The Spanish again? Uffda....

The ugly head of Spanish racism has returned to blight Lewis Hamilton's world championship challenge in Brazil.

Lewis Hamilton apparently an Englishman of African Ancestry race car driver guy.

Thousands have targeted Hamilton on a voodoo style website, taunting him about the colour of his skin in a vile campaign that reprised the abuse he received at the start of the year in Barcelona.

More than 16,000 racist messages using terms like "nigger" and "half-breed" have been posted on a Spanish website.

Here's some newsreel:

A spokesman said: "Discrimination and prejudice have no place in sport and society. Everybody in our sport will join us in condemning these abusive, hateful comments."

...

Hamilton was booed and racially abused as he tested a new car in Barcelona in February. England's footballers were subjected to racist chants during a friendly against Spain at Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium in 2004. Sections of the Spanish crowd made monkey chants when Ashley Cole, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Jermaine Jenas touched the ball.

The same year former Spanish coach Luis Aragones was fined more than £2,000 for making racist remarks about Arsenal player Thierry Henry.

SPAIN! KISS MY ASS!!!

Now, back a few years, was it not the case that the British fans were banned from Soccer because of their bad behavior? (I may have that wrong.) Can't we ban Spain for a few years, until everyone in Spain has completed some basic sensitivity training?

Thank you to Philip for bringing this lovely story to light.

I'm embarrassed to mention it. I don't understand this Spanish attitude, since having lived in the U.K. you should listen to some of the racist things the British used to say about the Spanish. Perhaps what is most baffling is how the Spanish seem to be going out of their way to antagonize international sports.

Actually I was going to post an interesting stat, that in the last 40 years, every time a Democrat has won the white house, a Brit (or Aussie ) has won Formula 1. Take that Spain!

I'm embarrassed by the racism of some of my countrymen. But the problem is not in Spain but in all of Europe.

Good news, Hamilton is the new world champion. But barely - His nearest challenger won the race, and Hamilton had to finish fifth to be the season's points champion (as mentioned in the video.) He passed from sixth to fifth position IN THE LAST CORNER ON THE LAST LAP to earn the Formula One championship. Doesn't get more dramatic than that. Hope the racists are really bitter about it.
