Tangled Up in Blue Guy has a Hardcore Atheist Checklist. This is a meme, and I’ll likely do it later, but for now, I just want you to see it, it’s quite good. Here.

While we are on the topic, note that Atheists are smarter than Agnostics. And while you are at Sandwalk, the Blog, have a look at this: Why Everyone Should Learn the Theory of Evolution.

Do you know about Gender Genie? It is a web site where you can submit your prose and find out if you are a gender biased writer. I found out about it here. I’m experimenting with it. Expect interesting results soon.

I want to remind those of you who forgot, and tell those of you who don’t know, about Virginia Hughes’ blog. Ginny is an excellent writer and she was my boss until she fired herself. In fact, she was the Boss of all the Science Blogs.

I miss her editorial skills, even though there was actually very little of that.

Anyway, a sample of her stuff: Sound Processing in Autism

Regarding the atheist checklist, I can bold 22 out of 50 items. That makes me pretty hardcore. (I have… met Richard Dawkins and will meet Daniel Dennett next semester, created an atheist blog, used the Flying Spaghetti Monster when arguing, gotten offended at being called an agnostic; my family knows I’m an atheist, I attend on-campus gatherings of my campus’s atheist group, I’m a member of an organized group of atheists, I’ve donated money to an atheist organization, disowned an entire side of my family because they were being bigoted shitholes about the fact that I’m an atheist, argued with fundies, own a stockpile of atheist stickers and things, attended a protest which involved protesting against fundies, am donating my body to science, made friends with people because of mutual atheism, have crossed idiotic slogans off of currency, refused to cite idiotic pledges, said gesundheit, am openly atheist even on Facebook, wear pro-atheism clothing in public, think astrology is stupid, and think even Unitarians are wacky.

    Way to go Katherine!

I can say all of the same, except that I am too old for Facebook, and I know someone that met Dawkins (and was at the MN Expelled fiasco where PZ didn’t get in and Richard Dawkins did!).

The study also shows that Episcopalian/Anglican and Jewish people have higher IQs than both atheists and agnostics. I wonder what to make of that?

catgirl, they were interviewing adolescents. Adolescents are not largely known to be all that intelligent. In addition, there’s actually a genetic trend for Ashkenazi Jews to have an average IQ approximately 7 points higher than non-Jewish Europeans – it’s been selected for for centuries. However, you can’t generalize from a group to an individual, so I am loath to say any ethnic group is more intelligent than another. I don’t know about the specifics of the data on the Episcopalians and the Anglicans among that sample .
